TOPIC: VICTORY IN THE MIDST OF TRIBULATION
THEME SCRIPTURE: “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace... but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33 KJV
PREPARATORY QUESTION:
1. How should a Christian respond to the tribulations of this world?
Imagine soldiers exhausted in battle when suddenly their commander arrives with news that the decisive position has already been secured. Their battle may continue, but their mindset changes because victory is assured.
Jesus gave His disciples a similar assurance. He never promised a trouble-free life. Instead, He said, “In the world ye shall have tribulation.” But He immediately followed it with the greater truth: “Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Beloved, our peace is not based on the absence of trouble but on the presence and victory of Christ. Whatever uncertainty, pressure, or difficulty you may face today, Jesus has already gone ahead of you.
Economic uncertainty? Be of good cheer.
Fear about the future? Be of good cheer.
A difficult situation in your life? Be of good cheer.
Jesus has overcome the world!
So, how do you respond to a problem that has already been taken care of? You stop allowing it to dominate your thoughts. Carry Christ’s peace in your heart and His victory in your spirit.
And because He overcame the world, you can overcome your challenges through Him. Therefore, develop the habit of celebrating Christ’s victory, even while you are still in the battle.
Keep going. Your victory is in Christ. Glory hallelujah!
