Theme: LONELY BUT NOT ALONE
Theme Scripture: "And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of." - Genesis 28:15(KJV)
Preparatory Question
1. How conscious are you of God's presence with you?
At some stage of his lonely journey, Jacob settled down for the night, picked a rock for a pillow, and tried to get some sleep. But little did he realize that the Lord had other plans for him that evening. Jacob dreamt a dream that night, and it was encouraging. He dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it (Gen. 28:12).
Precious one, by this dream, Jacob was reminded that even in the desolate places on earth, God remains closely in touch with His people.
It must have surprised Jacob when he woke up to learn that while he was asleep in a desolate place like Luz, the heavens could open over him. This must have been encouraging for Jacob.
In his dream, the Lord stood at the top of a staircase set from the earth to heaven. God reminded Jacob of His promise to his fathers Abraham and Isaac, saying,
"I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed" (Gen 28:13).
Here God gives His promise made to Abraham and Isaac to Jacob. God gives Jacob a guarantee that the future is greater and superior, though his beginning seems small. Then the Greater One switched to assuring Jacob of His presence, protection, and provision. This must have been of great interest to Jacob.
“Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you,” according to our theme scripture.
Beloved, it was the divine presence that was noticed by Laban, Jacob's uncle. Whatever Jacob touched prospered. You also may be a lone person in this life. If you have God, you are not alone. The Greater One is with you, even in the desolate places. His presence will always be the difference-maker as you go through the year. Be conscious of His abiding presence, His undepleting supply, and His divine protection, and you will sail through the year victoriously. God loves you, and He is with you wherever you go.
Remain blessed.

Prayer
Precious Father, thank you for your presence wherever I go. Through the times and the seasons, in the valleys and upon the mountains, I will not be afraid because you are always with me. How can I be afraid of what man can do to me? Blessed be your holy name. Hallelujah!
