TOPIC: DELIGHTING IN GOD'S RELENTLESS PRESENCE
THEME SCRIPTURE: “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” (Genesis 28:15, NIV)
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
1. Why do some Christians exclaim, "Where are You, Lord!" in times of trouble?
2. Does God abandon us when the going gets tough?
Charles Spurgeon once asserted, "Christ’s delight in His people is not a distant affection but a fiery, relational joy. Just as a friend cherishes shared moments, Jesus treasures His redeemed—so much so that He bound Himself to us by blood and promise. You are not merely tolerated; you are wanted." Yea, we are not merely tolerated; we are deeply wanted by the Infinite One. Glory to God!
Jacob, fleeing his mistakes, encountered God’s vow in Bethel: “I am with you.” Not because Jacob earned it, but because God chose him. Likewise, Christ’s delight in you flows from His choice to redeem you, not your perfection. His presence isn’t conditional—it’s covenantal.
He is with you wherever you go, not to endorse your flaws but to transform you (and others), uphold and showcase you through His nearness.
As children of God, what are we to do with this profound truth?
First, let us rest in this undeniable truth--we are chosen: Yea beloved, He who is sovereign chose us by His own will. Hence, when shame whispers, “God is disappointed in you,” counter it with Genesis 28:15. You are loved, precious one, because He says so, not because you’ve “arrived.”
Never be intimidated in any way or at any time because you are the darling of Jehovah.
Additionally, notice or recognize His nearness in your life every day and anywhere: In moments of stress or joy, pause and whisper, “You are here, moving in me and through me. I worship You.” Let His companionship recalibrate your heart when you get set to begin your day or when you are overwhelmed.
Lastly, learn to share the delight: Text a friend in distress this day: “God’s promise to Jacob applies to you too—He’s with you always [brother], even to the end of the age.”
What an assurance we have! How can we be defeated? This is what prompted David to declare, " The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear?"
Beloved in Christ, you are not wandering alone. The God who promised Jacob, “I will not leave you,” is the same Christ who calls you His delight. Walk boldly—His presence is your proof of being irreplaceable.
Remain blessed.

Jesus, Your delight in me stuns me. Forgive me for doubting Your nearness in my chaos. Fix my heart on Your vow: You are with me, not as a passive observer but as a redeeming Friend. From today, my life is radiating the joy of being fully known and fully wanted. in Jesus' precious name. Hallelujah!
