THEME SCRIPTURE: "And the asses of Kish Saul's father were lost. And Kish said to Saul his son, Take now one of the servants with thee, and arise, go seek the asses." 1 Samuel 9:3 KJV
PREPARATORY QUESTION
1. Is there anything like luck or is there a cause for everything that happens?
Having rejected God by requesting a king, Samuel was in a tight corner to come up with a choice. There was no blueprint available in Israel for choosing a king. God had to help the prophet. One day, God spoke into the ears of Samuel, the prophet, that He is going to send him a young man tomorrow about this time. Samuel is to anoint that young man over God's inheritance (1 Sam 9:15-16). Then comes the question: "How should Saul and Samuel be brought together in 24 hours?"
A succession of trifling and ordinary events began to unfold, proving to be the links in the divinely constructed chain by which the two [Samuel and Saul] were to connect. Suddenly, Kish's [Saul's father] asses got missing. That isn't good. Saul is asked to go search for the asses with a servant (1 Sam 9:3). After a long search, there was no result (1 Sam 9:4). At the time Saul wanted to give up the search for fear of anxiety upon Kish, he and the servant were at a place called Zuph, and Samuel also had just arrived there (1 Sam 9:5). Then immediately the servant made a timely intervention by suggesting to Saul to seek the prophet's help (1 Sam 9:6). Saul was not prepared to see the prophet; he had no gift to give him (1 Sam 9:7). The servant had a few coins on him to help (1 Sam 9:8). It seemed there was no excuse for Saul not to see the prophet. Entering the city, Saul and his servant met some young girls on their way to the well. Saul asked these young girls about the seer (1 Sam 9:11). Their answer was simple: "He is before you...make haste" (1 Sam 9:12).
Beloved, all these events seemed to be an accident, but they were not. They were all the providence of God. They all came together to execute God's plan for Saul.
Nothing is too trivial to be part of God's divine agenda for us, as individuals, and collectively as the body of Christ. After all, it is written concerning those who love Him,"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (Rom 8:28).
Precious one, as people who have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light to show forth His praises, nothing is an accident.
Both the pleasant and the unpleasant, the interesting and the uninteresting, all come together to paint the beautiful picture God has for our lives and lead us to our superior place.
See, the missing asses, and the long search without results were not interesting. The servant knowing the GPS location of the prophet and a few coins in his pocket was pleasant. All came together to bring Saul to Samuel (1 Sam 9:18), to the waiting seat in the parlour (1 Sam 9:22), the reserved portion (1 Sam 9:24), and ultimately to the throne (1 Sam 9:20). So also, all things [both the pleasant and the unpleasant] would work together for your good because you love God.
Remain blessed.

QUESTION TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD
1. How conscious are you regarding divine providence in your life?
PRAYER
My Father, is there not a cause that I am alive today? Is not the invisible hand of God constantly at work in my life? There is a reason for all the things you allow in my life, and there is a purpose for the seemingly unpleasant circumstances. I receive grace to trust the providence of God each day of my life, in Jesus' precious name. Hallelujah!
