TOPIC: STAND STILL AND SEE
THEME SCRIPTURE: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." — Exodus 14:14 (NIV)
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- What does it mean to be still for the Lord to fight our battles?
The Israelites had just escaped Egypt, only to find themselves trapped—Pharaoh’s army behind them, the Red Sea before them. Fear surged. Panic rose. But Moses’ command was clear: “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.” (Exodus 14:13).
Standing still in a moment of crisis feels unnatural. We want to act, run, hide, fix something—anything. But spiritual maturity often looks like stillness: quiet trust that waits on God's deliverance rather than striving for our own.
Gregory of Nazianzus wrote, “When I am most full of cares, then am I nearest to God, for then I seek Him more earnestly.” The stillness God calls us to is not passivity—it’s trust in His power. It is the silence that says, “I believe You’re working, even when I can’t see how.”
In our own lives, the Red Sea moments come. Doors close. Enemies press in. Solutions vanish. But the command remains: Stand still. God’s power often comes at the point when we’ve exhausted our own. He doesn’t always part the waters until our feet are wet.
David wrote, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Knowing God in the storm requires stillness in the soul—stillness that surrenders our fear and embraces His promises.
Charles Spurgeon once said, “To stand at the foot of the cross is to witness the greatest battle fought for man’s soul, and yet it is in stillness that salvation is found.”
Precious one, it may seem that this year you do not know where help will come for you regarding your many plans. Or, there are many that are saying that there is no help for you in God. Hey! Let your stillness throughout the year be an act of bold faith.
Stillness isn’t weakness—it’s strength under surrender, beloved. It’s how victories are won in God’s kingdom. Stand still, and see.
God bless you more.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
1. Where am I trying to fix things that only God can deliver me from?
2. What would it look like to “stand still” in my current challenge?
3. How can stillness become a deeper expression of my trust in God?
PRAYER
Father, when everything in me wants to act, rush, or panic, teach me to be still. Remind me that You fight for me. Quiet my heart, settle my mind, and strengthen my faith as I wait on You. Let me see Your salvation in Your time and Your way. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
