THEME: MY PEACE I LEAVE WITH YOU
Theme Scripture: "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid". John 14:27 KJV
PREPARATORY QUESTION?
1. What do you consider to be true peace in this life?
Nothing can replace the peace every man needs in this life.
Samson has been working as the domestic security guard for one of the richest women in Ghana for the past three years. His boss likes him, except for one thing—he sometimes falls asleep at night while guarding the main gate. Samson was surprised that his boss struggled to sleep. In the middle of the night, his boss would pace the balcony of her mansion. "She would wake me up during those nights I fell asleep on the job and blast me mercilessly," Samson recalls. However, one day his boss asked him a question he wasn't expecting. "How is it that with all your poverty, you can fall asleep easily?"
Samson's reply was simple but profound. "Madam, two things: I have Jesus, and I am content with what I have [my wife, children, and the small place we have to lay our heads]. I don't compare myself to you, lest I die before my time," he said.
Precious one, our many struggles in life all aim to secure one thing—life's peace. We have believed that more money or properties, more material things, are what guarantee peace. Nevertheless, it is only those who have reached those heights who can attest to the fact that when you get to the top, there is nothing like enduring peace or joy.
Jesus understood that what we are all truly searching for is peace. So He left His peace with His disciples, according to our theme scripture. His peace is not the kind that the world offers [temporal and shortlived]. His peace is the one that surpasses understanding (Phil 4:7). Who wouldn't want this peace? Jesus left this peace with us. How then do we make it effectual in our lives?
Firstly, obedience to God's word is key to entering this peace given by our Lord. Adam knows this very well. The day he disobeyed God, his struggles and that of his descendants began. Jesus emphasized the importance of obedience to His word when He said, "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock." (Matt 7:24-25). Thus, in life, rains, floods, and storms are inevitable. They will come. However, the disciple who 'does' [practices and obeys] the teachings of Christ will always have peace amid life’s storms and joy even in the face of overwhelming challenges.
Beloved, are you a doer of God's word or just a hearer? Do you practice the Word, or is just reading it enough? The heart that understands and does God's word will always be free from alarm, knowing no fear.
Further, godliness combined with contentment [that contentment that springs out of inward sufficiency] is a great and abundant gain to the true disciple. Until your sufficiency is of God, precious one, your quest for true peace will be elusive.
You can walk in true peace no matter your peculiar circumstances. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you..." says the Lord. So, don't let your heart be troubled in any way, neither let it be afraid. Remain blessed.

PRAYER
Eternal Father, thank you. In you, I have peace. From today going forward, I am doing your word, walking in it as the Spirit leads me. I receive grace to be content with what I have and what I hope to receive in you and from you. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
