TOPIC: STAY WATCHFUL
THEME SCRIPTURE: “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life… Be always on the watch, and pray.” – Luke 21:34,36 (NIV)
PREPARATORY QUESTION
- What does it mean to be watchful?
Jesus warned that the greatest threat is not always persecution— it is distraction.
He named two dangers: indulgence and anxiety. One numbs the heart with pleasure. The other burdens it with worry. Both make you spiritually drowsy.
Watch this: A weighed-down heart cannot stay watchful.
Spiritual alertness is not hype. It is disciplined awareness. It is living ready. It is guarding what enters your mind and what controls your time.
You cannot control the hour and the day Christ returns. But you can control whether you are attentive and ready.
Pray consistently.
Live intentionally.
Refuse to drift.
Drifting rarely feels dramatic. It feels gradual. But small compromises and constant distraction can quietly erode conviction.
Key Takeaway
The greatest danger is not open opposition to your faith—but a distracted, dulled heart.
So precious one, with the help of the Holy Spirit, stay awake. Stay clear-minded. Stay clean. Remain prayerful. Stay with God.
Remain blessed.
