TOPIC: LIVING WITH AN ETERNAL CLOCK
THEME SCRIPTURE: “So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- What does it mean to number our days?
We measure our days in hours, minutes, and seconds—but God measures them in purpose. While we live bound to the passing of time, Scripture constantly calls us to live with an eternal clock. Not a clock of urgency born from fear, but one formed from clarity: life is short, eternity is long, and every day is a seed.
Moses prayed, “Establish the work of our hands.” Why? Because he understood that our days fade like grass, but what is rooted in God outlives us.
Jonathan Edwards echoed this when he resolved, “Never to lose one moment of time; but improve it in the most profitable way I possibly can.”
Precious one, at the end of our lives, our stewardship of time would become our testimony—what we believed, what we valued, and what we pursued.
Paul pushes this truth even further: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” — Colossians 3:2
Living with an eternal clock means refusing to let temporary things consume eternal energy. It means recognizing that God has woven purpose into the ordinary: the conversations we have, the work we do, the kindness we give, the battles we fight in prayer, and all.
Eternal living is not mystical— it is intentional. It is choosing depth over speed, obedience over convenience, and faithfulness over distraction. The time we spend becomes the story we leave.
Origen once wrote, “He who lives with eternity in his heart will never live small.”
When eternity shapes your priorities, your decisions gain clarity, your worries shrink, and your actions echo beyond your lifespan.
You have today. Use it in light of forever.
Remain blessed.

Father, set eternity before my eyes. Guard me from small living, shallow priorities, and wasted moments. Teach me to live today with a purpose that aligns with Your kingdom. Let my thoughts, decisions, and actions carry the weight of eternity. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
