TOPIC: THIS SAME JESUS WILL COME AGAIN
THEME SCRIPTURE: “Which also said, ‘You men of Galilee, why are you standing gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen Him go into heaven.’” – Acts 1:11
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
1. How did Jesus go into heaven?
2. Will Jesus come back again? Why will He come back the second time?
The birth of Jesus was a miracle. Through a virgin, the Word of Life took on flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). During His ministry on earth, He mentioned to His disciples that it was important that He return to where He came from (John 14:12; John 16:10). It is common knowledge that through death, the living depart for the spirit world. However, Jesus died and rose again, conquering death and hell. How then was He going to return to the Father, who is Spirit (John 4:24)? The Holy Scriptures confirm that as Jesus was sharing His last words with His disciples, He levitated, ascending while they looked on steadfastly, and Jesus was received into heaven (Acts 1:9).
Precious one, it did not end there. Immediately, two angels stood by them. This is the message the angels gave them: “This same Jesus…shall so come in like manner as you have seen Him go into heaven” (Acts 1:11).
Precious one, Jesus is coming again. He is coming to judge the quick and the dead at His appearing (2 Tim 4:1).
Every one of us shall give an account of his life to Jesus, whether dead or alive (1 Peter 4:5). What account would you render before the Lord Jesus? Remember, the hour and day of His second coming, no one knows except the Father (Matt 24:36). So don’t bother yourself with finding it out. Further, there have been scoffers who still mock the second coming of our Lord Jesus. These scoffers keep saying, “Where is the promise of Jesus’ second coming? Since the death of ancient men, life has continued as it were from creation” (2 Peter 3:3). Beloved, do not fall for their ignorance or deception. So said the scoffers of Noah’s day. They made fun of him and his ark. They ate and drank, married, and also made merry until the floods came and swept them all away (Matt 24:38-39).
Jesus is coming again, precious one. What then must you do? Look forward to His appearing and prepare.
If you’ve left your first love for God, remember where you fell and repent. Do the works of love as you did at first (Rev 2:5). Are you living in sin (adultery, fornication, manipulating and scamming others, bribery and corruption, murder, etc.)? Turn to Jesus, and He will grant you salvation from sin’s dominion. Are you being persecuted for Christ’s sake? Lift up your eyes; your redemption draws near.
Beloved in Christ, there is a day of reckoning, and that day is coming soon.
It will be sad to live anyhow, and not have prepared to give a proper account to your Maker. Focus on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, to live a purposeful and fulfilling life to the glory of God. Hallelujah!
