TOPIC: JESUS IS THE CHRIST
THEME SCRIPTURE: “But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through His name.” – John 20:31
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
1. Is Jesus truly the Christ, the Son of God?
2. Can Jesus give life to mankind?
Over centuries, mankind has struggled with the idea that someone called Jesus, who had flesh and blood like any ordinary person, was the invisible God. Being called "The Son of God" has exacerbated this struggle. Does God give birth? Does He have a wife? The average person wonders about these. These questions are genuine, but they also show that we think of God as a natural person.
Precious One, many people prefer to see Jesus as a great teacher or prophet of God. That is nice, but that is not who He is.
He is the Son of God. Remember, God is a Spirit. Spirits don't give birth. Therefore, Son of God means He [Jesus] originates from God; an offshoot of God. He is of the God-kind incarnated. Jesus is the Word of God made flesh (John 1:14). This Jesus is the Messiah or the Christ.
After man fell and gave Satan his authority in Eden, the kingdom of darkness reigned through death. However, God created the earth as an extension of the kingdom of heaven. Through Abraham, God sought to liberate humanity and the world from the kingdom of darkness. To reclaim the earth, God needed to defeat the kingdom of darkness. Jesus is the king and the embodiment of God’s kingdom. God didn’t need an army; Jesus was enough to conquer hell and darkness (Col 2:15). Through His death, Jesus defeated death and the devil, (Heb 2:14). Praise Jesus!
‘The Christ’ or Messiah was the promised liberator or Savior, to bring the kingdom of God on earth. Moses spoke of Him, and the prophet Daniel called Him the son of man (Dan 7:13–14).
The Psalms, Isaiah, and Zechariah foretold the Messiah's coming and accomplishments. Jesus fulfilled all those prophecies. After rising from the dead, Jesus chastised His disciples on the way to Emmaus for being slow to believe those things written of Him by the prophets. Beginning with Moses and all the prophets, He explained all the scriptures about Him[the Christ] to them (Luke 24:25–27).
The Gospel of John was written to show that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing in Him gives us life.
Precious One, do you believe that Jesus is the Christ? Do you believe that those who have Jesus have life? Should you not reaffirm your faith in Jesus as the Christ, Son of the Living God, today? Our faith in this truth is the bedrock of our new life in Christ Jesus. Glory to God!

CONFESSION
I affirm this day that Jesus is the Lord, and Savior of my soul. I have therefore been rescued from the tyrannical rule of the kingdom of darkness, translating me into the kingdom realm of God’s beloved Son. Now, I dwell in the presence of the Father. Glory to God!
