THEME: CAN MAN LIVE WITHOUT GOD?
THEME SCRIPTURE: “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.”– Genesis 2:7
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
1. Was man formed to have an intimate relationship with God?
Truly, God formed man and breathed into him. If the word ‘formed’ connotes an idea of God being a technician or engineer, His breathing into him connotes more of a delightful intimacy.
Of all that God created, life was imparted to them in a different way from that of man. God breathed into his nostrils. This portrays that man is totally dependent on God. Without His breath in our nostrils, we are lifeless.
But equally important is the fact that irrespective of whether God breathed into man the same way lifeguards resuscitate drowned victims or we are to take it figuratively, the idea of God wanting a relationship with man is invoked when God did this.
Man became a living being (soul) immediately His breath entered him. The word ‘being’ (soul) is the Hebrew word ‘nepes’. This word is the equivalent of the Greek word ‘psyche’, often translated in many places in scripture as ‘soul’. However, the idea or the picture behind the word ‘nepes’ has to do with the neck or throat, signifying strong desires, hunger, longing, and appetite.
Everything in the created order exists to reveal His glory.
But man exists to have fulfillment by longing for God and Him alone satisfying it. Man was created to have a deep relationship with the Infinite, and from the day he was created, God visited man consistently to deepen that relationship. Such that when man sinned, it affected his psyche and he avoided his God.
Precious one, the question, “Can man live without God?” needs no research laboratory to find the answer. If man was formed by God and was made a living soul by His breath, then there is no argument to this simple truth—Man without God is self-abolishing.
Hence, David affirmed rightly when he said, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for you, O God” (Psa 42:1). Man is the only being created in our realm who has the capacity to hear, understand, evaluate, and know what God is saying at each particular moment in time. He is the only one who has what it takes to love God or choose what to do with what He says. This man is God’s masterpiece.
Beloved in Christ, your life without God is a recipe for frustration, depression, and restlessness. As a result, don’t make the mistake of going through the year without a meaningful relationship with God.
Throughout the year, choose to hear Him, know His will, understand His word, and commit to obeying His instructions. Your life depends on it. We were created to be in tune with the earth but equipped to be in touch with God. Stay in touch, this year 2025, with the Most High and He will guide your path. You have received His Holy Spirit. So then, you are in the spirit (or become a participant of the spirit realm) according to scripture (Rom 8:9). You operate in both the natural realm and also the spiritual. What may seem impossible for you in the natural realm can be realized in the spiritual realm. God is always with you. Remain blessed.
