THEME: SEEK HIM WHOLEHEARTEDLY

THEME SCRIPTURE: "And he set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the vision of God: and as long as he sought Jehovah, God made him to prosper." 2 Chronicles 26:5 ASV

PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:

1. What does it mean to seek the Lord God?

2. Are you seeking the Lord? If yes, how?

3. Is it important at all to seek the Lord?

4. Who have you ever talked to and encouraged to seek the Lord God, and why?

I have heard many people say, “I am going to seek the face of God.” What do they mean when they say this? To seek is to search. So to seek the Lord is to search for the Lord. How can a man search for God? What does He look like? Where can I search for Him? The questions are many. The truth is this – men have sought God wholeheartedly and He was found of them – (Psalm 34:4). This means it is possible to search for God. But more questions remain – How do I seek Him?

To seek God is not to look for one who is missing, as we do when a child is missing. Rather, it is to endeavor by all means possible to know about Him – to understand Him, His ways, His intentions, and His purposes.

It is all about “to search and know with accuracy,” the same way someone will study and know the teeth and we will call him a dentist.

Our theme scripture talks about King Uzziah, who was just 16 years old when he became a king. He sought God because, without God, we can do nothing (John 15:5).

Though Uzziah was young, he had a teacher or a guide who helped him seek God. That person was Zechariah the priest. Scripture testified of Zechariah’s spiritual grace – “he had understanding in the visions of God…”. In other words, God was guiding Uzziah through dreams and visions, but he did not understand the messages of his visions. Zechariah, who was spiritually experienced like Eli [the priest], was there to help him understand these visions. With understanding, Uzziah was able to walk in the light of God. This brought success, and he loved to seek and follow God more.

Today, many Christians also have been having dreams and visions, and because we do not understand them, we throw them away or ignore them. This has brought more struggles in our lives. We pray very much; God directs us in our dreams or reveals to us His ways to enable us to appreciate what to do to get the results we seek through prayer.

All we need to do is to consult the Holy Spirit of God in prayer, in our meditation, or read and study how similar scenarios in scripture were interpreted, and the way of God will be clearer to us.

Precious One, if you have not been seeking God in prayer, make it a priority this year. If you have not been seeking to know His ways through the study of His word, start today. Seek God diligently, and your ways shall prosper.

Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:

1. In what ways have you been seeking God consistently all these years of your Christian life?

2. How has God been speaking to you, and have you been striving to understand the mind of God whenever He speaks to you?

CONFESSION

Father, I thank you this day for the awakening to seek you more and more. I receive grace to understand the ways of God in these last days. I confess that the eyes of my understanding are enlightened this day, so I am comprehending fully and deeply, the move of God, the promptings of the Spirit, and the directions of the Almighty. In Jesus’ Precious name. Amen.
