PREPARATORY QUESTION
- What does it mean to trust the Lord?
Six years ago, James completed his first degree. As he neared graduation, he was excited—not only because he would become a graduate but also because he anticipated gaining independence by working and earning an income. To his surprise, five years passed, and he had no success finding employment. James’ excitement gradually wore away, and he began to feel like a failure.
This year, he decided to try something different—he chose to trust God for a job. Having done everything he could humanly do without success, he felt it was time to involve God. All James did was pray with a trusted friend, believing in the scripture:
"Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven." – Matthew 18:19 (KJV)
Afterward, James let go of his worries and desperation. He began to thank God daily for a job, even though no interview seemed forthcoming.
In less than three months, James received a call from an employer who had interviewed him a year earlier. "There’s another opening in my company, and I was wondering if you’re available to take it up," the employer said.
James responded affirmatively but couldn’t help asking, “Why me, sir?”
The employer replied, “We didn’t hire you last year because we felt you were overqualified for the position. I remembered you, and when this opening came up, I knew you were perfect for it.”
Precious one, even simple matters we expect to happen smoothly may pose significant challenges. However, you can trust God to guide you through them. Often, we lean on our understanding for things we assume will happen automatically. But if we trust and work with God in both simple and complex matters, He will always come through for us. He is our present help in times of need.
What does it mean to trust God? A trusted person is reliable and dependable at all times. To trust God means to confidently rely on His Word and depend on Him in every situation, no matter the circumstances. God is a faithful, precious one. Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He will direct your paths. With God, all things are possible. Remain blessed.
