THEME: WALKING IN THE LIGHT
Theme Scripture: Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If a man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. John 11:9
PREPARATORY QUESTION
1. Should God allow faithful Christians to fall into crisis or be encompassed by challenges?
Valerie has been a faithful Christian all her life. She had always believed that God had her best interest at heart. Hence, there was no way evil could come near her abode. However, during a routine medical checkup, Valerie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. This was hard for Valerie to take. "How could this be?" "Why will God allow this to happen to me?" Many more questions began to flood the mind of this sweet sister in the Lord.
Many Christians get shattered when they find themselves in crisis. Our reaction shows that we have believed all this while that when we are faithful to God, we are free from challenges, crises, and unfortunate situations. Lazarus was a friend to Jesus. He and his sisters were dearly loved by the Master. They honored Jesus with their hospitality anytime He was in their town. Yet sickness entered the home where God was loved and honored. Not only did Lazarus fall ill, but Jesus did not hasten to his aid. He waited for him to die. There are true Christians who are in the valley of decision and asking, "Where is God?"
Beloved, Jesus reminded us that "...the one who hears My word and does them is like a man who builds his house [or life] on the rock. The rains descended, the floods came and the winds [challenges, crisis, unfortunate situation] blew and beat against it, but it fell not because it was founded upon the rock" (Matthew 7:24-25).
This scripture reminds us that no matter who you are, storms will come at you one day. This is the reality for everyone, whether you are in Christ or not. However, it is worth noting that storms coming against you is not the issue. Rather, who is with you in this life or the foundation of your life is the difference-maker. The children of Israel were in the wilderness for 40 years. God was with them, and as a result, they never lacked anything, and there was none feeble amongst them (Psalm 105:37).
Our theme scripture points out an important truth. There are 12 hours in a day. The one who walks in the day does not stumble because he will have the light of this world to walk circumspectly. Jesus is the light of the world. The one who follows Him shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life (John 8:12).
Precious one, crises may come, but if you are a man who walks in the light, then you are not alone. Challenges may arise, but you have light to guide you through it all. Unfortunate situations may occur, but you know for sure that, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil because you are with me" (Psalm 23:4).
Beloved, God wants to remind you today that you are not alone in this. He is with you. Keep walking in the light and see how all things will work together for your good. Remain blessed.

PRAYER
Eternal God of mercy, thank you for the fact that I am never alone in this life. As a result, I am always an overcomer. Yea, troubles may come, crisis may occur, but I will always be of cheers. Trusting you to the end. For I know that You, Lord, have already overcome this world for my sake. Glory to God.
