TOPIC: FULLY PLEASING THE LORD 

THEME SCRIPTURE:"So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God." — Colossians 1:10 (NIV)

 

 

PREPARATORY QUESTION 

1. Is it your greatest desire to please God, or you're mainly seeking His approval for your own plans and desires?

 

 

 

A life that walks worthy of the Lord is a life that seeks to please Him in every area. Paul’s prayer for the believers in Colosse was not focused only on their knowledge of God but on their relationship with Him producing a life that delights His heart.

To please God is to align our desires, decisions, and actions with His will. It is a life where obedience is not viewed as a burden but as a response of love. Jesus demonstrated this perfectly when He said: "The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him." — John 8:29 (NIV)

Christ’s life was completely centered on the Father’s pleasure. His words, priorities, and actions flowed from His desire to honor God. As His followers, we are called to develop the same heart posture—not merely asking, "What is allowed?" but "What brings joy to God?"

Pleasing God involves the ordinary decisions of daily life. It is seen in how we treat people, how we handle responsibilities, how we use our resources, and how we respond when obedience requires sacrifice. God is not only concerned about what we do in public; He desires a heart that seeks Him in every hidden place.

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."— Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

Faith is the foundation of a life pleasing to God. It means trusting His wisdom above our own, believing His promises, and choosing His ways even when we cannot see the outcome. God is pleased when His children depend on Him and walk in confident obedience to Him.

Our walk with God is sustained when, as believers, we move beyond asking God to bless our lives and begin living to please Him. A heart fully surrendered to God does not pursue obedience for recognition but because it loves the One who has redeemed it. Praise God.

PRAYER 

Heavenly Father, create in me a heart that desires to please You above all else. Teach me to align my thoughts, choices, and actions with Your will. Let my faith produce obedience, and let my daily life bring joy to Your heart. Remove selfish desires that compete with Your purposes and help me live as one who truly belongs to You. May everything I do bring honor and glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen.
