TOPIC: YOUR FAITH WOULD COST YOU
THEME SCRIPTURE: "Even those closest to you—your parents, brothers, relatives, and friends—will betray you.” – Luke 21:16 (NLT)
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- How costly is it to follow after Christ and to love Him?
Few wounds cut deeper than betrayal. And Jesus does not soften the warning—following Him may strain even the closest ties.
We expect opposition from strangers. We are undone when it comes from those who know us best. Why would loyalty to Christ divide families? Because allegiance to Him is ultimate.
When Christ becomes Lord, every other loyalty is reordered. Some will misunderstand that shift. Others may resent it. A few may oppose it outright.
Jesus Himself was misunderstood by His own family. He was abandoned by friends. He was denied by a disciple. He does not ask us to walk a road He has not walked.
But notice—He tells us beforehand. Not to discourage us, but to steady us. When relational tension comes, it is not proof that you chose wrongly. It may be evidence that you chose faithfully.
Yet still, Scripture never calls us to hostility. We are commanded to love, to bless, to pray. Standing firm does not mean becoming harsh.
Conviction and compassion are not enemies. You can refuse to compromise and still refuse to retaliate.
Some relationships may fracture for a season. Some may never fully reconcile. Yet no sacrifice made for Christ escapes His notice. He sees the quiet grief. He records the costly obedience.
And here is the quiet hope: your perseverance may one day become the very testimony that softens hardened hearts. Faithfulness now can open doors later.
Beloved, if following Christ costs you approval, remember—you have not lost your truest belonging. You are held by a Father who never betrays.
Yeah, you are joined to a Savior who never abandons. You are indwelt by a Spirit who never withdraws.
Key Takeaway
When loyalty to Christ strains relationships, remain faithful and loving—God honors costly obedience.
As you go through the day, precious one, stand firm. Love deeply. Bear the cost of your faith. Trust God with the outcome.
Remain blessed.

PRAYER
Father,
You know the pain of divided loyalties and strained relationships. Guard my heart from resentment when obedience costs me closeness. Teach me to stand firm without becoming defensive, to speak truth without losing love. Heal what can be healed, and give me peace where reconciliation has not yet come. Also, help me value faithfulness to You above every other approval. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
