TOPIC: LIVING FOR ETERNAL IMPACT
THEME SCRIPTURE: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” — Colossians 3:2 (NIV)
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
1. Why is it so important to set your mind on things above?
God’s vision for your life is never just about now. It’s about eternity. Everything He entrusts to you—time, gifts, opportunities—is meant to bear fruit that outlives you. Living with eternal impact means making daily choices that echo forever.
Too often, we chase temporary wins: applause, influence, security. But these fade. Jesus warns in Matthew 6:19–21 not to store up treasures on earth, but in heaven. When eternity is our lens, we live differently. We serve without being seen. We give without expecting a return. We obey even when it costs. Augustine once said, “He who has God has everything; he who has everything but God has nothing.” Your legacy is not measured in titles or applause, but in souls touched, truth lived out, and the glory which flowed through you to God.
Look at Abraham. He never saw the fullness of the promise, yet his faith still shapes generations (Hebrews 11:8–10). Or consider Dorcas, remembered simply for doing good and helping the poor (Acts 9:36). Eternal impact often looks ordinary in the moment.
Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 3 that some build with wood and straw— things that won’t last. Others build with gold— eternal acts done in Christ. God's fire will test each one’s work. What will remain?
To live for eternity, we can consider the following:
1. Ask yourself daily: “Will this matter forever?” before taking action.
2. Invest in people, not platforms.
3. Prioritize obedience over success.
4. Let your private life match your public faith.
5. Keep heaven in view—even when earth distracts.
Beloved, you’re called to more than survival— you’re called to eternal significance. Whether you're leading many or serving one, your faithfulness matters to God. You are building a legacy that heaven remembers.
