TOPIC: YIELD YOURSELF TO GOD

THEME SCRIPTURE: “And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh” - Exodus 7:7

PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:

  1. Was Moses that old when God sent him on that divine assignment?

Aside from Abraham, Moses is one figure in scripture who made a huge impact on his generation and beyond to today. However, this man, Moses, was called by God at the age of 80 and died at age 120 (Deut 34:7). His eyes were not dim, and neither was his natural force abated. The first forty years of his life were spent in the palace of Egypt, and the second forty years were spent in the wilderness of Midian. At the time of his call, Moses’ brother was 83 years old.

God, putting these two aged men together against all the powers of Egypt, brought a big deliverance to Israel. They were old and not accomplished. But they yielded to God, and He did wonderous things through them.

Beloved, it does not matter how small and insignificant you may be in human society, with God on your side and you on God’s side, you are a majority. According to D. L. Moody, “Moses spent forty years of his life in Egypt’s court thinking he was somebody and another forty years in the desert to learn that he was nobody. But in the last forty years of his life, Moses demonstrated what God can accomplish with somebody who found out that he was nobody.” It all started with Moses yielding to God’s call and plan for his life.

Precious one, until you yield to God, you will never realize your full potential, no matter how hard you try. Yielding to God begins, first and foremost, with surrendering your life to Christ.

Until Christ is made Lord and Master of your life, you’re on your own. Like the Christians in Macedonia, before they would give their substances to the work of God, they voluntarily gave themselves first to the Lord and to the apostles by the will of God (2 Cor 8:5). Further, you must yield your dreams and plans to God. See, it is great to have plans and dreams in life. But it is greater to be God’s dream. It is one thing to create and own a dream; it is another thing to be a dream (God’s dream). This is what Moses became at the time he was dying.

Not only must we yield our lives and dreams to God, but also our physical bodies. Present your body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God (Rom 12:1). Thus, use your body to do only those things that please God. Yield also your talent and intellect to Him who is able to make the best and most use of them.

Until you decide to live for God, He will not live through you.

Beloved, when Saul met Jesus, he became Paul. Yielding wholly to Him, God used him to change the then known world through the power of the gospel. However, to sincerely yield to God will require deep trust and confidence in Him and what He is capable of doing with a nobody. He specializes in using the foolish things of this world to confound the wise and the weak things of this world to confound the mighty (1 Cor 1:27-28). What are you waiting for? Turn to God and yield to Him; trust Him and see Him use you to change the world for good. Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:

  1. Is your life a yielded life, daily seeking to fulfil the plan, will and purposes of God?

CONFESSION

Precious Jesus, you are the vine and I am a branch. As the branch cannot independently survive, so without you I can do nothing. I yield my heart, soul and body unto you, Lord. Take it, every aspect of my being and make me your dream. Hallelujah!
