TOPIC: EXCUSES: NO ONE BELIEVES IN ME
THEME SCRIPTURE: “And Moses answered and said, but, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, ‘The Lord has not appeared to you’.” – Exodus 4:1
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- Why did Moses think that the children of Israel would not believe him or hear what he had to say?
Any time someone makes up excuses, he is feeling within that he does not measure up to the task. In this theme scripture, Moses made it plain to God, “I am not the kind of guy people will accept if I should say that God spoke to me.” After all, Moses has not forgotten that he is a wanted man in Egypt.
He left Egypt as a murderer. Can he return as a prophet? What a shock it will be to all who hear this!
There are many people whose past is haunting them, and as a result, they have felt inadequate as a person God can use. The beautiful thing is that everyone God used in time past, recorded in the Holy Scriptures, had a wretched past. God provided Moses with three signs or miracles he could perform to convince the Israelites that he was sent by God (Exo 4:2-9). If they won’t believe your word, they will believe the supernatural signs.
Precious One, the excuse we give sometimes is not different from what Moses was placing before God.
We feel good when we have the credentials men look for. But without the credentials, we feel very inadequate. However, God has never been interested in a man who feels adequate, lest his confidence reside in his own credentials instead of the power of God. A man who feels adequate can easily ignore God’s leadership in his life. When God chose Saul and made him into Paul, he soon realized that he had no physical stature, voice, the charisma or the goodwill (2 Cor 10:10). As a result, Paul never went out preaching the gospel with the enticing words of human wisdom but with the demonstration of the Spirit and power (1 Cor 2:4). How remarkable this is.
Beloved, you are inadequate, and you will always be. Because a man can receive nothing except what is given to him from above, and what comes from above is a result of His grace.
God’s grace is sufficient to compensate for our inadequacies. Instead of making excuses out of your inadequacies, as though you need them before God can walk and work with you, rather glory in them. So that the power of Christ may rest upon you (2 Cor 12:9).
Dear one, where is the wise philosopher? Where is the expert scholar? Where is the skilled debater of our time (1 Cor 1:20)? Yet, it is in the mouth of babies and sucklings has God ordained strength (Ps 8:2) to silence the foe and the avenger. No one ever believed in you that you would amount to anything. But God takes the nobody to make them somebody. You may be having a dream. A kind that scares men, and therefore they keep telling you that it is not possible. Focus on what God has worked in you both to will and to dream, and always remind the naysayers, “For with God all things are possible.”
No one believes in you? God does and this is why He did not withhold His only Son but gave Him as a ransom for your life. What excuse can you have? Just move that mountain in your way and make God proud. Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
- How confident are you even when men have no confidence in you?
CONFESSION
Precious Father, I am assured by your word that you will never leave me or forsake. Therefore, I boldly declare that I do not fear what man or devil will do against me. When no one believes in me but You, Lord, I am secured. Glory Hallelujah!
