TOPIC: LIFE’S MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONS-PT3
THEME SCRIPTURE: “I must work the work of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work.” – John 9:4
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- What is the work of Him who has sent me?
- Are we all sent?
Are we a mistake, or did we just happen to be here on earth? If we are not a mistake, then there should be a reason why we are here. What is life, and why are we here? The life we possess is so loaded and complex that a textbook definition of it is not adequate. Everyone alive today, rich or poor, literate or illiterate, is looking for something more than material things (houses, cars, certificates, children, lands, etc.). We want to live a life that has meaning (check out this article: Looking for Meaning in Life?). Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? Can life be lived without meaning? If we get to know who we truly are and where we are from, then it is obvious that we were sent (and sent with a purpose).
The only way our lives can have meaning is when a person’s life fulfils its true purpose and realises significance and coherence.
Our theme scripture tells us that Jesus, our Master and Lord, knew His purpose in this life. Hence, He lived to work the works of Him who sent Him while it was day. The night (of death) is coming when no man can work. Beloved, until a man connects with his source, he cannot know the purpose for which he was created.
Until a man knows the purpose for which he was created, he will create a false one to live by.
In the beginning, God created man in His image and after His likeness (to function like Him). His purpose was that man should multiply and have dominion over the earth (Gen 1:27–28). What is God’s interest in having the earth filled with mankind? Simple. God created the earth; it is His property. God’s kingdom is in heaven, and before the Fall of Man, God was extending that kingdom to earth. Man was to be the governor of the earth, bringing God’s rulership to bear on this realm.
Jesus’ assignment on earth was to introduce the kingdom of God to mankind (Matt 12:28; Luke 10:9) and to show us how to enter it (John 14:6).
Generally, our purpose (as citizens of God’s kingdom) is to help many more enter the kingdom of heaven (Prov 11:30). But there are other ways to examine why you are here (your true purpose). Precious one, examining your heart is one way you can track down your purpose in this life (Prov 27:19). For instance, what irritates you is proof of what God has designed you to change. Also, the people and things you have passion for, interest in, and that occupies your heart and mind are those God has purposed you to build or enhance to His glory.
Our talents or gifts, as well as our experiences in life, all point us towards God’s purposes for our lives.
Brethren in Christ, the greatest failure in life is to have come to the end of your life and realise that you’ve been successful in what God never purposed for your life. Until life’s efforts are linked to a true purpose, there can never be fulfilment. God bless you more.

CONFESSION
Precious Father, thank you for reminding of who I am. I am not ordinary. I affirm this day that in Christ Jesus I have become God’s poetry, a chosen generation and a royal priest of God. Thank God, I know who I am.
