PREPARATORY QUESTION
1. What value is Christ's birth and the celebration of Christmas to you and also to the world?
Prior to the birth of Jesus, many significant events had happened in history. However, the most significant event in cosmic history occurred when Christ was born. God had taken on flesh and placed His foot here in the cosmic realm. Angels found this inconceivable. Angels hurriedly came upon shepherds who were watching their flocks that night to announce to them the birth of Jesus.
When the angel appeared to these shepherds, the first message was, "Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be unto all men" (Luke 2:10).
Truly, whoever hears and understands from God's perspective the birth of Christ has no choice but to burst into joy.
God had been in the distance and invisible for centuries, and men saw and related with Him by faith.
How glorious it is that this same God came near, into our domain, took on flesh, and we could see Him, hear Him, and touch Him.
This nearness means a lot to mankind because by it, God moved to live in our hearts. Glory to His name.
Beloved, "for unto us is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:11). Not just a baby, but a Savior.
The one who will save mankind from their sins. He is the true Deliverer; mankind's Rescuer. Unto us is born, not just a baby but the Christ, the anointed One. What the world has received is the One the prophets spoke about. Moses spoke about Him 42 generations earlier. David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micah, and many more. The prophets spoke about Him but never saw Him. The angel told the shepherds, "In the city of David is born the one the prophets spoke of but never saw Him. You did not speak of Him but you can see Him." Unto us is born, not just a baby but the Lord. Yeah, "the Lord". This is the word used by Greek-speaking Hebrews to refer to God Himself. The Almighty has put on flesh, and He is going to dwell in our midst.
Precious one, it is indeed good news, and the most joyous one that God came into our realm in the flesh. It is glad tidings to know that we have a Savior, the Messiah, and the Lord.
Are you in bondage or under the burden and yoke of the devil? A savior has been born for your sake. Are you struggling under the dominion of sin? There is a Rescuer available to all those whose backs are breaking under guilt and trespasses. If only you can find Him, you will find liberty, hope, and love unconditional.
Remain blessed.
