TOPIC: WHEN THE SPIRIT CHANGES YOU

THEME SCRIPTURE: “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” — 2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV

PREPARATORY QUESTION

1. If someone observed your life closely, what evidence would show that the Holy Spirit is at work in you?

Jesus told His disciples that it was necessary for Him to depart so that the Holy Spirit could come (John 16:7). His departure was not a loss but the beginning of a new dimension of God’s presence with His people. The Holy Spirit would come to dwell in believers, making them the temple of God.

The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives is a great privilege. He gives us power, guides us into truth, strengthens us, and helps us in our walk with God. But there is another important evidence of His presence: transformation of character.

The Holy Spirit does not merely come to give us power; He comes to change us from within.

Paul describes the result of this work as the “fruit of the Spirit”: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22–23).

Notice that Scripture speaks of fruit, not fruits. These qualities are different expressions of the character the Spirit produces in a yielded believer.

The presence of the Spirit should therefore become visible in the way we live.

He produces love when hatred would be easier.

He gives joy when circumstances give us reasons to complain.

He produces peace when everything around us is unsettled.

He teaches us patience when people test our limits.

He makes us kind in a world that can be harsh.

He produces goodness when compromise appears easier.

He develops faithfulness when commitment is becoming rare.

He teaches us gentleness when pride and aggression seem to prevail.

And He develops self-control when the world encourages us to satisfy every desire.

Precious one, spiritual maturity is not measured only by how much we know, how long we pray, or how powerfully we speak. It is also seen in who we are becoming.

The Holy Spirit wants to transform our attitudes, responses, desires, and relationships. He wants the character of Christ to become increasingly evident in us.

This transformation happens as we yield ourselves to Him. We cannot manufacture the fruit of the Spirit through human effort alone. Our responsibility is to remain surrendered to God, walk by the Spirit, and allow Him to work in us.

Beloved, perhaps the question today is not, “Do I have the Holy Spirit?” but rather, “Is the Holy Spirit changing me?”

When the Spirit truly works within us, something begins to show on the outside.

May our lives become living evidence of His presence—filled with love, marked by joy, established in peace, patient in difficulty, kind in our dealings, faithful in commitment, gentle in spirit, and disciplined in conduct.

Yield to the Holy Spirit, and let Him make Christ visible through your life.

Precious Holy Spirit, I yield myself to You. Transform my heart, my thoughts, my attitudes, and my actions. Produce Your fruit in me and let the character of Christ become increasingly visible through my life. Help me to walk with You daily and to bring glory to God in all that I do. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
