TOPIC: FOLLOW GOD’S LEADING

THEME SCRIPTURE:  “Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it, that you may know the way by which you must go, for you have not passed this way before.” — Joshua 3:4 NKJV

PREPARATORY QUESTION

1. Am I giving God enough space to lead me, or am I rushing ahead of Him?

As Israel prepared to cross the Jordan, God gave them a specific instruction:  follow the Ark of the Covenant, but keep a distance from it. Since the Ark represented God’s presence, one might wonder why they were told not to come too close.

The distance was necessary for clarity. If the people crowded around the Ark, many would not be able to see where it was going.  By keeping their distance, everyone could clearly recognize the direction God was leading.

There is a lesson here for us. Sometimes, what we call closeness to God can become interference when we allow our expectations, emotions, or desire for control to dictate our steps. God was leading Israel into “a way you have not passed before.” They needed to watch carefully and follow His direction.

Likewise, following God is not about rushing into action. It is about attentive alignment. Sometimes,  faith means waiting. Sometimes,  it means letting go of our plans so we can recognize His.

The distance God required was not separation; it was reverence. It created space for the people to trust the One who could see what they could not.

Clear direction comes when you give God room to lead instead of rushing ahead of Him.

When you allow God to lead, you move with greater clarity and confidence—not according to assumptions, but according to His direction.

And when God leads, you can walk confidently even when the way is unfamiliar.

PRAYER

Lord, help me to follow You with clarity and humility. Teach me not to rush ahead of Your direction. Give me patience to watch, listen, and respond at the right time. Help me trust Your wisdom rather than rely on my own understanding. Lead me in the way I should go. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
