TOPIC: TRUSTING THE SHEPHERD’S LEADING

THEME SCRIPTURE: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want”- Psalm 23:1

PREPARATORY QUESTION

1. What does it mean to have God as your Shepherd?

 

Sarah, a young mother battling cancer, sat in her car after receiving difficult scan results.

“Lord, why aren’t You healing me?” she prayed.

Then she remembered Psalm 23: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me.” — Psalm 23:4 (NKJV)

Her situation did not immediately change, but her perspective did. She realized that she did not have to understand the valley if she could trust the Shepherd who was walking with her.

Beloved, you may not know the way, but your Shepherd does.

Jesus said:“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” — John 10:11 (NKJV). Jesus is not merely a guide; He is the Shepherd who gave His life for you. His sacrifice on the cross is proof of His unfailing love.

When fear rises, remember: your Shepherd has not abandoned you.

Hebrews 13:20 calls Jesus the “great Shepherd of the sheep.” He was raised from the dead, and His resurrection assures us that no circumstance is beyond His power.

You may not understand what God is doing today, but you can trust the One who knows tomorrow.

Peter also calls Jesus the “Chief Shepherd” and reminds us that an eternal reward awaits those who remain faithful (1 Peter 5:4).

So, precious one, keep following Him.

HOW DO WE FOLLOW THE SHEPHERD?

1. Stay in His Word.
   Let Psalm 23 remind you of His presence and care.

2. Listen for His voice.
   Spend time in prayer and Scripture. Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice” (John 10:27).

3. Trust His leading.
   You do not need to see the entire path. You only need to trust the Shepherd for the next step.

Beloved, the Shepherd knows the way. Follow Him, even when you cannot see beyond the next step.

PRAYER

Good Shepherd, I trust You even when I cannot see the way ahead. Lead me, strengthen me, and help me recognize Your voice. When I walk through difficult valleys, remind me that You are with me. I surrender my fears and future into Your hands. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
