TOPIC: STEP INTO THE WATER FIRST
THEME SCRIPTURE: "And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the Lord , the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap." — Joshua 3:13
PREPARATORY QUESTION
1. Does God still do miracles today?
The waters of the Jordan did not part while the priests stood safely on the bank. The flow stopped only when their feet touched the edge. God’s power was certain— but their participation was required.
This is the tension of faith: God promises the outcome, yet often withholds visible change until obedience begins. The priests had to carry the Ark—the symbol of God’s presence—straight into a flooded river. No bridge. No visible sign. Just a word from God.
It would have been reasonable to wait. Or to ask for a sign. Or to hesitate until conditions improved. But hesitation would have kept the river flowing.
Faith, in this moment, was not a feeling; it was movement.
Many delays in our lives are not due to God’s inactivity, but our reluctance. We want clarity before commitment. But God's approach is the inverse. God often gives direction instead of clarity. The miracle meets us in motion, not in indecision.
Notice also what they carried: the Ark. They did not step forward empty-handed; they stepped forward with the assurance of God’s presence. Obedience is not reckless when it is anchored in God’s word—it is rather alignment with God's word.
When their feet touched the water, the impossible began to shift. Not gradually,
but decisively. The river responded to obedience.
You may not see immediate results when you take the first step. The priests still had to stand in the riverbed while the people crossed. But the moment they moved, everything changed.
Key Takeaway
God often reveals His power after you move, not before—obedience fast-tracks what hesitation delays.
Today, if you want to see change in your life, you will need to boldly step into the water. In obedience and boldness step forward into the waters and experience God's miracle in your life.
Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD
1. Where are you waiting for certainty instead of acting on what you already know?
2. What fear is holding you back from stepping forward?
3. How can you carry awareness of God’s presence into your next decision?
PRAYER
Lord, help me to trust Your word enough to act on it. Give me courage to step forward even when I don’t see the outcome. Remind me that You go with me, and that obedience is never wasted. As I move, let Your power be revealed in ways that strengthen my faith and bring You glory. In Jesus's precious name, Amen.
