TOPIC: TO WHO SHALL WE GO?
THEME SCRIPTURE: But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. [69] Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." — John 6:68–69
PREPARATORY QUESTION
1. What do I do when following Christ becomes uncomfortable or unpopular?
After hearing Jesus’ hard teaching, many of His followers respond bluntly: “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?” The tension rises, and then comes the turning point— many walk away.
Jesus does not soften His message to keep the crowd. He doesn’t chase after those leaving. Instead, He turns to the twelve and asks a piercing question: “You do not want to leave too, do you?”
This moment reveals something essential—Jesus invites His disciples to commitment, not convenience. He allows space for people to walk away because forced faith is not real faith.
The disciples are now fully exposed. The crowd is gone. The excitement has faded. The busyness has ceased. What remains is their choice.
Again, Peter speaks—not with polished certainty, but with anchored conviction: “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.” This is not blind optimism; it is a settled decision. Even without full clarity, Peter recognizes that leaving Jesus offers no better alternative.
Faith is tested most when it costs something—comfort, approval, or control. It’s easy to follow when the message aligns with your expectations. It’s harder when it confronts them.
But here is the quiet truth: there is nowhere better to go.
Other paths may promise ease, but they cannot give life. Other voices may sound appealing, but they cannot sustain your soul. Only Jesus speaks with the authority that reaches beyond this life into eternity.
So when faith feels costly, don’t rush to resolve the tension by stepping away. Stay. Wrestle. Ask critical questions—who has the words of life? But remain.
Beloved, maturity in the faith is not built on constant clarity—it is built on consistent commitment to His words and His leading.
Key Takeaway
When faith is tested, your staying power —staying with Jesus —is the decision that leads to life, even without all the answers.
Today, receive grace to be decisive in following the Lord, and pray for staying power through it all.
Remain blessed.

PRAYER
Lord, when following You becomes difficult, steady my heart. Keep me from drifting when I don’t understand. Help me choose You again and again, not because it’s easy, but because You are life. Deepen my conviction and anchor me in truth. Amen.
