TOPIC: DON’T BE DECEIVED

THEME SCRIPTURE: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them.” – Luke 21:8 (NIV)

PREPARATORY QUESTION

  1. Can the man who is in Christ be deceived?

Before Jesus spoke about persecution of, or endurance by, His followers, He gave a warning: be careful who you follow.

Spiritual deception rarely looks dangerous at first. It sounds confident. It feels urgent. It often carries religious language. But sincerity is not the same as truth.

Not every spiritual voice is sent by God. Not every movement is led by Him. Not every claim about “the end” is trustworthy.

Jesus’ instruction was simple: Do not follow them. But who are they? We must discern them.

Discernment requires more than emotion. It requires Scripture. It requires a steady relationship with Christ. If you do not know His voice, you will struggle to recognize counterfeits.

The goal of deception is distraction. If the enemy cannot destroy your faith, he will try to distort it.

So, stay grounded. Test what you hear. Measure every message against the Word of God—not trends, not personalities, not hype. There are too many Christians who are not into the word of God. Everything they know was told to them. They have never bothered to search the Scriptures to find out whether what they have been told is true.

Key Takeaway

Spiritual maturity is not chasing every new voice—it is remaining anchored in Christ’s voice.

Precious one, truth is steady. It does not need exaggeration. Learn to start each day with God's word so your life can be anchored in Him alone.

Remain blessed.
