TOPIC: TRUSTING BEYOND THE OPTICAL EYES
THEME SCRIPTURE: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me.” — Psalm 28:7 (NIV)
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
1. What is involved when it comes to really trusting God?
Imagine viewing life through the eyes of a child—when what you understand is limited, but your dependence on a parent is total. As a five-year-old, your father gives both joy and pain: a shiny bike, sweet words, but also hard decisions (you can't have this) and sorrowful news. You don’t understand why he won’t give you what you want, or why he seems to leave you sometimes.
Trust always feels shaken when pain enters the picture.
But now, imagine you're fifteen. Your understanding deepens. What once felt like abandonment now reveals itself as protection. What once seemed like rejection is recognized as wisdom.
Maturity reframes reality.
This is how it often is with our heavenly Father. We live in the tension of receiving both delight and disappointment. Sometimes, like children, we interpret hardship as God's absence. Yet, the problem isn’t His faithfulness—it’s our perspective.
Isaiah 55:8–9 reminds us, “‘My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord.” As Origen once said, “God does not cause all things to happen, but nothing happens without His permission and use for good.” His sovereignty is not negated by our pain. Instead, it works even in mystery.
The challenge of Christian maturity is learning to trust the heart of God even when His hand seems hidden. This trust is not passive acceptance but deep-rooted confidence in His character. Augustine wrote, “Trust the past to God’s mercy, the present to God’s love, and the future to God’s providence.”
True trust believes God is good when the gifts are sweet—and still good when the answers are “no” or “not yet.” Such a trust sees the supplies and the scarcity, and still says, “My Father can be trusted.”
Precious one, God is faithful and can be trusted. Lay your head on the blossom of your Lord; He has you covered.
Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD
- Are there moments in my life where I’ve misjudged God’s intentions?
- How has spiritual maturity changed the way I view past pain or disappointment?
- Do I trust God’s wisdom as much as I trust His love?
PRAYER
Father, help me trust You—not just when life is easy, but especially when it's not. When I can’t see the reason, remind me of Your heart. Help me grow my faith beyond childish demands into mature confidence. Let me rest in the truth that You are always good, always wise, and always for me. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
