TOPIC: GOD'S TIMING
THEME SCRIPTURE: “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end” – Ecclesiastes 3:11
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- Is there a time for everything God does?
Indeed, at the right time, God makes all things beautiful. Timing is everything. But who can tell the right time? Only God is big enough to order our steps in time, to be on time.
Additionally, God orders the steps of the righteous. Such that what he needs finds him, and he is able to own what he can only borrow. This is how God exalted Joseph from the dungeon of Egypt’s prison in His time.
After being disappointed by Pharaoh’s cupbearer, Joseph was forgotten for two years. This proves that the arm of flesh will always fail, and curse is the one whose trust is in man. But the man whose eyes are on God will never be put to shame. Joseph wanted an opportunity to beseech Pharaoh and seek his favour through the cupbearer.
But he did not know that when God’s time comes, Pharaoh would rather seek his help. God orchestrated it beautifully.
One night, Pharaoh had two dreams he could not shake them off by morning. What is this dream that troubles Pharaoh’s spirit? He called for the interpretation of the dreams, and the magicians were just blank. Nobody could help the king of Egypt. Then the king’s cupbearer remembered Joseph, the dreamer and the interpreter of dreams. Regardless of his prison charges, he was summoned to the palace immediately. Shaved, washed, and dressed. He appeared before the king. Pharaoh went straight to business, “I have dreamt a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard of you, that you can understand a dream to interpret it” (Gen 41:15). Then the God-fearing Joseph replied, “It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace” (Gen 41:16). Joseph zoomed in on Pharaoh’s dreams and told him, “The two dreams are the same: God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do” (Gen 41:25). Joseph advised the king on what to do after interpreting the dreams because the matter was set to come to pass shortly. Since Joseph’s interpretation and advice pleased Pharaoh (Gen 41:37), he wondered, “Can we find someone like this man, in whom is the Spirit of God?” (Gen 41:38). In Egypt? The answer was no. In that moment, Joseph the prisoner became Egypt’s second-in-command. How? The guy is a foreigner. Who does that? No one but God. He raises up the poor from the dust and lifts the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes and to make them inherit thrones of glory. God will keep the feet of His saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness. For by strength shall no man prevail.
Precious one, in His time He makes all things beautiful. Your patience with God and His timing is a function of your deep trust in Him.
The more you trust God, the more you are confident in His timing for your life. God may have humbled you today, beloved. Submit and remain under His mighty hand. For He is the only one who can humble you without humiliating you and exalt you without flattering you. Wait for His time; it is the best. Wait, wait, and I say unto you, “Wait on the Lord”.
