TOPIC: FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH
THEME SCRIPTURE: “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto you are also called, and has professed a good profession before many witnesses.” - 1 Timothy 6:12
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- What is the good fight of faith?
- How must we fight the good fight of faith?
Faith is integral to the Christian walk. Without it, no one can please God (Heb 11:5). Those who have won God’s admiration are those who, against all odds, stood in faith. When faith is mentioned in scripture, what is being referred to is the God-kind of faith. The God-kind of faith is that faith that trusts, and has confidence in God’s word absolutely. Meaning, what God says or has said is the reality we live by, even though we have no physical evidence to back our confidence. It is simply that the God who has spoken is credible enough to be trusted.
Precious one, God is faithful and can be trusted.
God’s word is the reality of the man who walks by faith. However, such a life will never go uncontended. The reason is this – we all have been raised to see before believing, even though what is seen does not need to be believed. Hence, any time we have not seen a thing and yet we have to make it our reality, some struggle emerges. Secondly, your faith life is not in the interest of the devil, especially your trust and confidence in spiritual verities.
We become strongly united with God when faith is our lifestyle, and then the supernatural becomes a way of life.
This beautiful life cannot be interesting for the devil to see. So then, He will do what he did to Adam and Eve in the garden – he will work on their minds.
In the Garden of Eden, God gave Adam and Eve dominion over all things in the earth. He told them the truth – the day you will eat this tree you will die (Gen 2:17). The day God gave this instruction, Eve was not present. The devil showed up one day and began a conversation with Eve, who only knows the truth through Adam. The devil told Eve that it is not true what God has said. Rather, God is concerned that if you eat the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, you will become exactly like Him (Gen 3:4-5). The question that Eve should have raised here is, “please who are you that I should trust you?” But she didn’t, why? When marketing appeals to desires, the buyer becomes blind to everything including price. This is how good men over the years have fallen prey to scams and Ponzi schemes.
Precious one, your mind is your battleground and the devil from time to time will visit to have a conversation with you. His objective is to find a loophole to bring you into deception.
What must you do?
Grow in the knowledge of God and our Savior Jesus Christ. When the devil came to Jesus, He conquered him with scriptures – “it is written…” (Matt 4:4). In addition, put on the whole armor of God and do all you can to withstand the devil, and having done all stand (Eph. 6:13). To withstand is to prevent from being taken away from you. Meaning, the devil will come to you to make you feel you don’t have it (faith, God’s righteousness, or eternal life, etc.) or you are not (blessed, saved, forgiven or accepted in the beloved). Don’t believe him because it is not true. The day you will believe the devil you’ve lost it. Spiritual verities are received by faith, and kept by faith in God.
Precious one, this fight is on daily and you must develop the discipline of growing in the knowledge of God’s word. In this way, you can dominate this fight at all times. Fight the good fight of faith, beloved. Be determined never to be deterred in the face of all odds and remember - God admires men and women of faith. God bless you more.

CONFESSION
Precious Father, thank you that you are faithful, even if we are unfaithful. I affirm that I have everything that pertains to life and godliness. From today, I am choosing the word of God over everything else. It is my light in the dark and a lamp unto my path. Glory to God.
