TOPIC: PARTICIPATE IN THE GOSPEL
THEME SCRIPTURE: Philippians 1:4-5
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- What is the gospel?
- What brings joy to heaven regarding the Christian life?
From our theme scripture today, Apostle Paul shares his enthusiasm about the believers of Philippi and why he continuously prays for them with joy. This enthusiasm is about the fact that these believers have been active participants in the gospel from the first day they heard it. They have been unrelenting with their participation, involvement and more of the gospel.
Precious one, what is this gospel? The gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes (Rom 1:16).
Thus, the gospel is the power of Christ’s finished works that produce incredible results in the life of the one who dares to believe. It is God’s grace to mankind, Glory to God.
In our theme scripture, the Greek rendition of the word participation used by the Apostle is ‘koinonia’. This word has several dimension of meaning which includes participation, fellowship, partnership, communication, and also distribution. Signifying that, not only did they become partakers with the saints in Christ, but also they continued in the words (John 8:31) and works of Christ as well as partners in advancing the spread of the gospel. Thus, they went ahead to practice what they believed and contributed to the advancement of it.
Precious One, have you dared to believe the gospel? The proof of faith is pursuit. If you believe in a thing you will get involved or put it to work wholeheartedly. If we have dared to believe, are we also fully involved or walking in the instructions, precept, direction and finished works of Christ? Further, if we are involved fully or walking the faith, it should be easier to share the same faith with others who are struggling and confused.
Paul was recounting the Philippian believers' participation in the gospel then. But to us it is a reminder, to rise up to the same call – to believe, get fully involved (or walk the faith) and also share (or advance) the gospel of Christ.
The interesting thing is that when a man believes and walks the faith, his life automatically becomes a testimony and a signpost, pointing others to Christ. Many lives are waiting to also participate in the gospel through your active (not passive) involvement in the gospel (Obadiah 1:21). Hallelujah!
Let God’s word today supercharge your spirit to be an active participant of the gospel in all its dimensions, being fruitful and enriched by your devotion to Christ. Glory to God

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
- How active has your participation in the gospel been over the years?
- How active is your participation in the gospel this year going to be compared to the previous year?
- In which areas have you been less active – walking the faith or sharing it?
CONFESSION
I affirm that I have received the perfect knowledge of God’s pleasure for my life. From today going forward, I am shaking off anything that has been a weight and a drawback to my full involvement in the gospel. I confess this day that I am supernaturally infused and energized with strength by the Holy Ghost to fully participate and advance the course of Christ, in Jesus’ Precious name. Hallelujah.
