TOPIC: GROW IN FAVOR PT. 1
THEME SCRIPTURE: Luke 2:52
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- What is favor?
- How can you know whether you have a favor or not?
I have heard many say this – Life is not fair. You see, life will not give you what you deserve but what you fight for. Therefore the Preacher said, “I have seen servants on horsebacks and princes walking barefooted like slaves” (Eccl 10:7). There are many things we may say 'it is not fair' in this life. I have heard someone say, “I am more beautiful than that woman and yet she is married but I am still struggling to". So life is not fair. I have also come across someone who felt he was more intelligent than another person and yet the person has a better job and he is struggling to get his first job.
Precious one, know this for yourself – in life, favor is a difference maker. So Jesus, born of the Holy Ghost, had to grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men (Luke 2:52).
This points to the fact that favor is very important in a man's life. There are two kinds of favor – favor with God and favor with men.
Favor is kindness unmerited. It is also the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in a person’s life. In other words, favor is a divine programming on man’s spirit or heart, which makes him enjoy certain particular benefits without meriting them. Favor is a function of the human spirit. Throughout scripture, men and women have lived and progressed by favor. There are types of favors with men that produce certain particular unmerited advantages. Some of these are:
- The Favor of the Face: this favor allows people who see you to just like you and to do anything for you. Esther had that favor (Esther 5:2). People without this favor experience cases where people who do not know them dislike them from the first day they met.
- The Favor of the Hand: with this favor, whatever a man touches with his hand it becomes successful. He succeeds in places others have failed. Isaac had that favor (Gen 26:12-13) and Joseph too (Gen 39:4). Those without such favor work hard but never see success.
- The Favor of the Leg: this favor enables a man to live above obstacles and challenges of life. David knew this favor when Saul needed him dead (Psalm 18:29). Those who are without this favor are saddled with problems and challenges their entire life.
Precious One, time will not permit me to talk about the favor of association, uncommon favor and many more. What is interesting is that favor is the same as grace, and you are a product of grace.
The Holy Spirit of God in you is the Spirit of grace (Hebrews 10:29). So, you can activate any grace that is dormant in your life. Be conscious of the graces that are at work in your life and the ones that are dormant and grow in them. More grace will result in smooth progress in life. Remember this – pride is the one thing that kills grace (James 4:6). From today, consciously walk in humility and God will give you more grace. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
Precious Father, thank you for the Holy Spirit of God who is the embodiment of favor. I affirm that through my life union with the Holy Spirit of God, I am infused with divine favor. Whatever I touch this day is prospering by my hand. I am soaring above all terror and oppression, triumphing over all things. Glory to Jesus!
