TOPIC: HAVE FAITH IN GOD
THEME SCRIPTURE: Mark 11:22
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- What is faith?
- Does faith works?
- Has there ever been a time in your life you felt you had faith and yet the faith didn’t produce results?
There are many Christians who have ever attempted to walk by the God-kind of faith and they were disappointed. On the other hand, many Christians have attempted the walk of faith and were amazed at the results they had. Faith-talk is a common thing among Christians such that if something is not working in your life you will hear someone tell you, “have faith in God”. What is faith? How can I know whether this walk of mine is of faith or not?
Let me ask this - have you ever trusted a person in your life such that what the person says is as good as done? The person is so faithful to his/her word, such that the person’s promises are as good as real. You wouldn’t wait to see him/her do it before you move on. That person's track record has engendered in you a deep trust and confidence in him and what he says. This is the case when it comes to faith in God.
Faith is a deep trust and confidence in God whom we have believed, such that His word and promises to us are as good as done even though we have not seen them yet with our optical eyes.
Many years ago, I knew a man who was so trustworthy in our community, such that his word was enough for his creditors. When he says he will pay next week, his creditors considered his goods as paid because he has never defaulted or failed to honor his word. This is the same with God; His word has never failed. When He says it, consider it as done and move on.
Faith works at all times. Every trust and confidence invested in what God has said produces results. Your confidence in God dares Him to do what He has said. So then, if your faith doesn’t work, probably it was not faith in the first place.
Sometimes when Christians think they have faith, it is rather hope they are carrying. If it is hope, it may take a long time.
This is it – hope looks into the future; faith is the future brought into the now. Hope will say “it shall be well” but faith will say “it is well”. Faith calls those things that be not as though they were (Romans 4:17).
God had to teach Abraham (then Abram) this principle a year before Isaac was born. God appeared unto him and reiterated the covenant He has with him (Genesis 17:4). Then God went ahead to tell Abram that from henceforth his name shall be called Abraham. The reason is - “for a father of many nations have I made you”, God said (Genesis 17:5). The guy had been made a father of many nations and yet he had no child. How? Was it a joke?
Precious One, know the God you are dealing with. He declares the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10), indicating that when He tells you about a thing, it is because He has first gone ahead to finish it (to make all necessary arrangements, negotiations and provisions).
All you need to do is to trust (or have confidence in Him) and obey, and His counsel shall stand (manifest) for you. This year, you are trusting the everlasting arm of God. You are seeing the glory of God as you walk in the God-kind of faith from today going forward. Hallelujah!

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
- What are some of the great things, you have believed, and have confidence in God to accomplish this year?
- Every faith must have God’s word as its foundation. What word of God is underpinning the things you have believed God for?
CONFESSION
In the Name of Jesus, I affirm that I am blessed beyond measure and God has given me everything that pertains to life and godliness. I am co-seated with Christ, far above principalities and dominions. God has made me more than a conqueror and his demonstrated love for me is my glorious victory over all things. Hallelujah.
