TOPIC: A DISCIPLE IS NOT ABOVE HIS MASTER 

THEME SCRIPTURE:  “It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord.” — Matthew 10:25 KJV

 

PREPARATORY QUESTION 

1. Am I willing to follow Christ faithfully even when doing so brings misunderstanding, rejection, or opposition?

Jesus never promised that following Him would always be comfortable. He prepared His disciples for the reality that their journey would sometimes attract the same hostility He experienced.

 

A disciple cannot expect a different treatment from his Master. If Jesus was misunderstood, opposed, mocked, and falsely accused, those who faithfully represent Him should not be surprised when they encounter similar resistance.

 

This does not mean every criticism we receive is persecution. Sometimes opposition comes because we are wrong, careless, or unwise. But when we stand for truth, live with integrity, and faithfully represent Christ, rejection may come simply because our values confront a world that does not always welcome them.

Jesus said, “It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master.” That is the real goal of discipleship—not merely receiving what Christ can give us, but becoming like Him.

 

Therefore, do not measure your faithfulness by people's applause. Measure it by your resemblance to Christ. Do not abandon truth merely because it makes you unpopular. Do not compromise your convictions simply to avoid being misunderstood.

 

Christ endured opposition without abandoning His mission. You can do the same.

Beloved, stand firm. Let your character reflect Christ,  your words honour Him, and your decisions demonstrate that His approval matters more than human applause.

PRAYER 

Father, help me to become more like You. Give me courage when I am opposed, wisdom when I am misunderstood, and humility when I am corrected. Keep me faithful to truth without becoming harsh, and steadfast without becoming bitter. May my life reflect You, whether people applaud or oppose me. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
