TOPIC: FEEDING ON CHRIST
THEME SCRIPTURE: “Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.” — John 6:53 KJV
PREPARATORY QUESTION
1. What place does Jesus truly occupy in the way you live each day?
Jesus’ words in John 6:53 are deliberately strong. He was not calling His hearers to a physical act of eating His flesh and drinking His blood. He was revealing the depth of our dependence on Him. Just as physical life requires nourishment, spiritual life requires Christ.
Jesus is not merely someone we admire, consult occasionally, or mention in religious activities. He is our life. To “eat” His flesh and “drink” His blood points to receiving Him completely—trusting His sacrifice, embracing His Word, depending on His grace, and allowing His life to shape ours.
Many desire the benefits of Christ without developing a deep dependence on Christ. But spiritual vitality cannot be sustained by occasional encounters with God. We must continually feed our hearts on His truth and draw our strength from Him.
Jesus later said, “He that eateth me, even he shall live by me” (John 6:57). The Christian life is therefore not merely about starting with Christ; it is about continuing in Christ.
When Christ becomes our daily nourishment, His wisdom influences our decisions, His character shapes our conduct, and His presence strengthens us in difficult seasons.
Key Takeaway
You cannot sustain a vibrant spiritual life by merely knowing about Jesus. You must continually receive, trust, and live by Him.
Precious one, do not merely carry the name of Christ—draw your life from Christ. Let His Word nourish you, His sacrifice humble you, and His presence direct you. Make Jesus your daily bread.
Remain blessed.
