TOPIC: THE PRICE OF FRUITFULNESS

THEME SCRIPTURE:“Except a grain of wheat fall into the earth and die, it abideth by itself alone; but if it die, it beareth much fruit.” — John 12:24 ASV

 

PREPARATORY QUESTION

1. What are you willing to sacrifice to become all God has called you to be?

 

 

John had great potential but struggled to make progress because he was unwilling to make the sacrifices necessary for his future. When an opportunity for a scholarship came, he abandoned it when he realized the preparation it required. His unwillingness to pay the price eventually limited his progress.

The same principle applies to our Christian walk. Growth, impact, and fruitfulness require sacrifice. Jesus illustrated this with a grain of wheat: unless it falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but when it dies, it produces much fruit.

Jesus Himself chose the path of sacrifice. Though He could have avoided suffering and rejection, He remained committed to the Father’s will because His sacrifice would bring salvation to many.

Paul therefore urges believers to present their bodies as “a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God” (Romans 12:1).

Beloved, fruitfulness requires surrender. There are things we may need to give up, disciplines we must embrace, and choices we must make to grow in Christ and positively impact others.

Do not be afraid of the price of obedience. What feels like a sacrifice today may become the very seed through which God produces lasting fruit tomorrow.

Precious Father, thank You for the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Give me the strength and courage to surrender whatever is necessary to follow You faithfully. Help me live a fruitful life that brings glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
