TOPIC: RECEIVING WHAT IS TESTIFIED
THEME SCRIPTURE: “Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony.” — John 3:11
PREPARATORY QUESTION
- Why do those who profess to follow God struggle to receive truth, especially when it is unfamiliar or uncomfortable?
Jesus shifts the focus from Nicodemus’ lack of understanding to a deeper issue: unwillingness to receive. He speaks not from theory, but from direct knowledge— what He has seen and knows firsthand. Yet the problem is not the clarity of the message; it is the response to it.
There is a difference between hearing truth and accepting it. You can listen, evaluate, and even agree at a surface level while still holding back from full acceptance.
Acceptance requires yielding—allowing truth to confront and reshape what you have previously held.
Jesus highlights a subtle resistance. It is not loud or obvious. It shows up as hesitation, selective agreement, or quiet dismissal of what feels too disruptive. It is easier to engage with ideas than to let them carry authority over your life.
The phrase “you do not accept” points to a posture, not just a moment. It reflects an inward stance that decides what will be allowed in and what will be kept at a distance. This posture often forms over time, shaped by habits of self-reliance or the desire to stay in control.
Receiving truth from God requires more than intellectual agreement. It requires trust—trust that what He reveals is not only accurate, but necessary. It means letting go of the need to negotiate with truth and instead allowing it to stand as it is.
Jesus does not dilute His testimony to make it easier to accept. He presents it plainly and leaves space for response.
Key Takeaway
Hearing truth is not the same as accepting it—transformation begins when you truly receive what God reveals.
Precious one, the question is not whether God's truth is being made known. The question is whether you are able to recognize truth when you hear it, and also willing to yield to it fully.
Remain blessed.

PRAYER
God, help me to move beyond hearing into true acceptance. Where I resist Your truth, reveal it to me. Give me a heart that is open, responsive, and willing to be shaped by what You say. Teach me to trust Your voice and receive it fully, without holding back. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
