TOPIC: STAND FIRM IN THE MIDST OF THE JORDAN
THEME SCRIPTURE: "And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan." — Joshua 3:17
PREPARATORY QUESTION
- There are times God wants us to remain still and see His salvation. Yet we struggle to remain still. Why?
The river stopped flowing the moment the priests stepped in—but their assignment didn’t end there. They were instructed to stand in the middle of the Jordan until everyone had crossed.
It’s one thing to take the first step of faith. It’s another to remain in position while others depend on your obedience.
The priests stood on dry ground, but they were still in the riverbed—the place that had once been impossible. Their stability became the pathway for others. If they had moved too soon, the crossing would have been disrupted.
Faith is not only about initiating action; it is also about sustaining it.
There are moments when God calls you to hold your ground— to stay committed, consistent, and present. Not because nothing is happening, but because everything is unfolding through your steadiness.
Endurance often feels less dramatic than breakthrough, but it is just as vital. And quiet faithfulness creates space for others to move forward.
There are times God wants you to be the bridge others can crossover. And when He uses you to enable others go ahead of you, be steady and remain till the last person has crossed over safely.
Beloved, consider the weight of what they carried. The Ark remained with them, a reminder that God’s presence was not just leading from the front, but sustaining in the middle. They were not standing alone; they were standing with God.
Sometimes you may feel “stuck” in a place that once required courage to enter. But what feels like a delay may actually be an assignment. Your consistency might be the very thing God is using to guide others safely through.
And when the time was right, God gave the signal to move again. The same God who calls you to step in also tells you when to step out. Glory to God.
Key Takeaway
Breakthrough begins with a step, but impact is sustained by staying where God has placed you until His purpose is complete.
Today, let God use you as a bridge for others to crossover the huddle Jordan presents. He will strengthen you to endure. He will give you the staying power till the last person crosses the flood.
Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD
- Where has God called you to remain steady instead of moving on quickly?
- Are you tempted to leave a place of assignment prematurely?
- How might your consistency be helping others without you realizing it?
PRAYER
Lord, teach me to remain faithful in every season. When I feel the urge to move too quickly, give me patience to stand firm where You have placed me. Help me to trust that You are working through my consistency, even when I don’t see immediate results. Strengthen me to endure, knowing that You complete what You begin. In Jesus's precious name, Amen.
