TOPIC: COMMIT TOMORROW TO GOD
THEME SCRIPTURE: “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” — Proverbs 16:3
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- How should the believer in Christ commit his plans, programs, and expectations to God?
Uncertainty unsettles the human heart. That is why marriage, new careers, relocations, or major decisions often bring both excitement and fear. We want guarantees, yet life offers none. Scripture does not promise us a risk-free future; it offers us a faithful God. Proverbs 16 redirects our focus from controlling outcomes to surrendering direction.
To “commit” in this verse carries the idea of rolling a burden onto the Lord. It is not passive resignation but active trust.
We dedicate our plans to God through prayer, obedience, and diligent effort, then leave the results in His hands. Success, in biblical terms, is not merely getting what we want—it is walking in God’s will and bearing fruit that honors Him (John 15:5).
Augustine wrote, “Trust the past to God’s mercy, the present to God’s love, and the future to God’s providence.” When we commit our way to the Lord, we are not surrendering responsibility; we are aligning our responsibility with divine wisdom.
Martin Luther echoed this posture: “Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.” Thus, commitment requires both prayerful dependence and faithful action.
Precious one, how should we commit our plans to the Almighty? First, clarify your motive. Thus, ask yourself: Is this for God’s glory or only personal gain? (1 Cor 10:31). If motives are clean, submit your plans to Him in prayer. Yeah, speak your plan honestly to God. Invite His correction and direction (Phil 4:6). Additionally, act with excellence and integrity after praying. Do your part wholeheartedly, not carelessly (Col 3:23). Then, finally, release the outcome to God. Trust God with results, even when they differ from your expectations (Proverbs 16:9).
Beloved, whether you are preparing for marriage, starting a project, changing jobs, or making financial decisions, the principle remains the same: God does not merely want to bless your plans; He wants to shape them.
Remain blessed.
