TOPIC: PRACTICING HIS PRESENCE

THEME SCRIPTURE: "I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” — Psalm 16:8 (NIV)

PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:

  1. How can the Christian today practice God's presence?

Deep down, many Christians live as if God is only found in quiet time or church services. But David knew better—he lived in conscious contact with God. Not just during moments of worship, but in every step, every decision, every battle. “I keep my eyes always on the Lord,” he wrote. God wasn’t a part of his lifeGod was his life.

True spiritual growth happens when God’s presence becomes our daily awareness, not just a theological truth.

Brother Lawrence, a humble monk who washed dishes in a monastery kitchen, once said, “There is not in the world a kind of life more sweet and delightful than that of a continual conversation with the Most High.”

This is what Jesus modeled. He withdrew to pray, yes—but He also walked in step with the Father every moment (John 5:19).

That’s the invitation for us: today, precious one, to live in step with the Spirit, not occasionally, but continually (Gal 5:25).

Practicing His presence is what engenders conscious and continuous contact with the Infinite. This practice of His presence practically means:

- We invite Him into ordinary moments.

- We speak to Him throughout the day.

- We listen for His whispers in our hearts.

- We lean on His strength when we're weak.

When we practice His presence, prayer becomes a lifestyle, not a checklist. And with God at our right hand, as David declared, we will not be shaken.

Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:

1. Do I compartmentalize God to certain moments or include Him in all areas of life?

2. What helps me stay aware of God’s presence throughout my day?

3. What distractions tend to dull my spiritual awareness?

PRAYER

Lord,  help me to live with a constant awareness of You. Help me not to seek You only in crisis or routine, but in every breath and every step. Teach me to walk in unbroken fellowship, to pray without ceasing, and to find joy in Your nearness today.  In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
