TOPIC: INSTRUMENTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
THEME SCRIPTURE: "Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God... as instruments for righteousness... Just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity... so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification." — Romans 6:13-19 (ESV)
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
1. What does it mean to present yourself as an instrument of righteousness?
Paul’s language is arresting: our bodies—our hands, eyes, mouths, and minds—are instruments. But instruments in whose hands? Used for what purpose?
The sobering truth is that we’re always yielding ourselves to something— either to sin, which leads to shame and death, or to righteousness, which leads to holiness and life.
Neutrality is an illusion. We either serve the flesh or we serve God.
Those who yield to God must do so fully, deliberately, and daily. Paul is not asking for part-time obedience or selective holiness. He’s calling for our whole selves to be laid on the altar.
Augustine wrote, “To whom we yield ourselves as servants to obey, his servants we are.” The fight of faith is not simply avoiding sin, but actively offering ourselves—our thoughts, decisions, time, and talents—to God as tools in His hand.
But here’s the promise: God never wastes what is yielded.
What was once used for destruction, He redeems for His glory. The same mouth that cursed can now bless. The same hands that hurt can now heal. The same mind that wandered can now worship.
If you’ve been yielding to sin, it’s time to switch allegiance.
The grace of God empowers a new kind of slavery—not to corruption, but to righteousness that leads to life.
If you’ve been walking in holiness, be encouraged: you are a vessel of honor. Continue to offer yourself—every day, in every choice—as one apart for God's purposes.
Remain blessed.

PRAYER
Father, I offer myself to You—not just in words, but in body and deed. Take every part of me—my mind, my mouth, my hands, my time—and use them for righteousness. Forgive me where I’ve yielded to sin. Strengthen me by Your Spirit to walk in holiness. I want to be an instrument in Your hand for Your glory. In Jesus' precious name. Amen
