TOPIC: REJOICING IN THE GOD WHO DELIVERS
THEME SCRIPTURE: “My heart rejoices in the Lord! Oh, how the Lord has blessed me!... There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.” —1 Samuel 2:1–2
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- How does God bring us deliverance, and what does it mean to rejoice in Him?
Hannah’s song is not just a testimony of a mother’s joy—it is a declaration of trust in the unshakable faithfulness of God. After years of weeping and ridicule, of longing and prayer, God answered her cry. But what’s most remarkable is not just her rejoicing—it’s her surrender. In joy, she gave Samuel back to the Lord.
Her blessing didn’t lead her to possessiveness, but to worship.
In her song, Hannah calls God her “Rock”—a symbol of strength, stability, and security. She rejoiced not merely in the gift, but in the Giver. Like Mary centuries later (Luke 1:46–55), Hannah lifts her eyes beyond her immediate blessing to the eternal character of God.
God is holy. He is just. He lifts the humble and brings down the proud (1 Sam. 2:7-8).
Beloved, her testimony reminds us that true deliverance is not simply getting what we long for, but learning to trust the Giver with everything—even the things we treasure most. “God is not preparing blessings for us; He is preparing us for blessings,” wrote A.W. Tozer. And sometimes that means releasing what we prayed for back into His hands.
Has God answered a long-held prayer in your life? Rejoice! But also, reflect.
Precious one, are you still surrendered? Are you willing, like Hannah, to trust God’s greater purposes, even when they require your obedience and sacrifice?
God’s faithfulness is not only seen in answered prayer, but in the transformation of our hearts to rejoice in Him regardless of the outcome. When we trust in His holy and sovereign nature, we find a joy that sustains us far beyond the moment of blessing. Rejoice, I say, in the Lord.
God bless you more.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
1. Do I rejoice more in the gifts of God than in God Himself?
2. What answered prayers in my life am I holding onto instead of releasing back to God?
3. How can I praise God today for who He is, not just what He’s done?
PRAYER
Lord, You are holy, just, and faithful. Thank You for hearing my prayers and for being my Rock. Teach me to trust You not only in waiting but also in blessing. Help me to rejoice in Your deliverance and to surrender every gift back into Your hands. Strengthen my heart to delight in You above all else. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
