TOPIC: IS THERE ANY WORD FROM THE LORD?

THEME SCRIPTURE: “Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.” – Jeremiah 37:17

 

PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:

1. Why did Zedekiah needed a word from the Lord? Had God been quiet on him for a while?

One day a preacher asked his congregation, as well as his radio and television ministry listeners to write him their most urgent question. Among the many postcards he received, a particular one caught his attention. Behind that postcard was written, “Is there any word from the Lord?” Profound question and yet difficult and easy at the same time to answer.

When we are in dire need, or in a place of crisis, we desperately seek to know the mind of God for us.

King Zedekiah was in a strait. The king of Babylon had besieged Israel and Zedekiah didn’t know what to do. Should he surrender or fight back? Should he send for reinforcement from ally nations or wait on the Lord. At this same time, Jeremiah the prophet was in a dungeon in the palace of Israel. Though coward and proud, Zedekiah went for Jeremiah from the dungeons and secretly enquired of him in his house, “Is there any word from the Lord?” Jeremiah replied, “There is…”

Precious one, “Is there any word from the Lord for me today”, you may ask? Yes, there is.

At such a time in the history of mankind, where chaos seems to rule and righteousness is not regarded, there is a word from the Lord. At this point in life where economic upheaval and iniquity are abounding more and more, there is a word from the Lord. For this is what the Lord says to you, “Be ye holy for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16). As a result, be holy in all manner of your conversation and dealings because the one who has called you will always be sanctified in those who come near Him.

Is there any word from the Lord? Yes, there is. This is what the Lord says to you, “Behold, I come quickly. My reward is with me to give to every man according as his works shall be” (Rev 22:12). O, thou slumber, wake up. For the Lord your God is coming again. The time is short and He has a reward for you. Whether you will like this reward or not will depend on how your works have been.

What have you been doing with your life, talents, and gifts that He gave you? How have you served the course of Christ? It is not a joke; Jesus is coming again.

Is there any word from the Lord? Yes, there’s a word. Thus says the Lord, “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches; To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise” (Rev 2:7). Remain blessed.
