TOPIC: FEEL DISAPPOINTED BY GOD?
THEME SCRIPTURE: “For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has done evil to these people; neither have you delivered your people at all.” – Exodus 5:23
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- Was Moses frustrated or disappointed at the turn of events?
It is awesome to walk with God. But you will soon realize this: “He rarely discusses His processes, approaches, or methodologies when He has made known the end from the beginning.”
When God shared His vision with the children of Israel, He said, “I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, to the land flowing with milk and honey” (Exo 3:17). It was beautiful how the end was going to be. But God did not share with them that they would have to contend with giants in the land. The Israelites were shocked when the time came for them to contend with giants for the Promised Land. This is what happened to Moses.
Moses heeded the call of God to go to Egypt, and he thought everything would be smooth. He soon realized that Pharaoh had no regard for God or the instructions of God (Exo 5:2) and the plight of the Israelites worsened (Exo 5:9). The people who once rejoiced that God had heard their cry and sent them a deliverer are now cursing Moses for making them stink before Pharaoh (Exo 5:21). Moses felt frustrated, and he could not hide his feelings. He returned to the Lord and poured out his thoughts genuinely, saying, “Why are you treating these people so badly, and why did you even send me? From the moment I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, things have only gotten worse for these people” (Exo 5:22-23).
Precious one, there have been certain moments in our lives when we felt, or still feel, frustrated that the God we trust would allow them in our lives.
Expectations have gone south. Or dreams (the things God spoke to you) seem far from coming to pass? You may have had faith, and for you, the so-called ‘faith’ did not work for you. You may have questions—questions for God specifically—why that committed and faithful woman had a terrible accident, or why that pastor died too young (even though the church prayed for him). Your questions are many, precious one. But be assured—you are not the only one. We all have questions but we have no doubt about God. Therefore we keep turning to God with our questions.
Beloved, if you say you are a genuine Christian and you have no questions about God and His ways, you are not living the faith.
See, as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts. This is why, at some point in our walk with God, we will have questions. There is nothing wrong when you turn to God in times of frustration and when you have many questions. Further, God often chooses not to answer some of our questions. He wants us to live the questions—to keep going and trusting Him even though we have questions. He trains our faith and confidence when He chooses not to answer. When the miracle happened and Israel was sent out of Egypt, Moses and Miriam could only sing a new song to God. Moses got to know God better. Pharaoh got to see the mighty arm of God, and the Israelites saw the works of God. Yeah, they didn’t receive an answer to their questions; they experienced it. Beloved, God hasn’t disappointed you; He cannot. He wants you to live the question and experience the answer. Keep trusting Him, because it is not over until He has done all that He has said. Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
- Are some questions waning your faith in God?
- Are these questions pushing you away from God?
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, when I get to the place of questions, help me to live it. I have no doubt that You are in control no matter how things turn out contrary to my expectations. Have you not said, and will you not do it. I will keep trusting you alone. Glory Hallelujah!
