TOPIC: I AM THE DOOR
THEME SCRIPTURE: “Then said Jesus unto them again, verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.” – John 10:7KJV
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- Who is the sheep Jesus refers to in the theme scripture?
- What does He mean when Jesus says ‘I am the door’?
Here, Jesus shares a parable with his followers. A parable of the shepherd and the sheep. What is central to the parable is that whoever does not enter the sheepfold by the door, is a thief or robber (John 10:1). This parable was difficult to comprehend (John 10:6) and yet Jesus compounded it more. He asserts unequivocally - ‘I am the door of the sheep’ (John 10:7).
Why would Jesus say that He is the door of the sheep? What makes Him a door and to what room or building is this door leading?
A door is a medium by which a person can transit from the outside into the inside, or from one room to the other. When Jesus said He is the door, He was pointing to all that He is the medium by which mankind can transit into salvation. “I am the door: by me, if any man enters in, he shall be saved…” (John 10:9). Jesus is the true means to accessing salvation from damnation. Anyone who bypasses Jesus (refuses to go through Him) has equally missed salvation. There is salvation in no other (Acts 4:12) except Jesus Christ. For there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.
Through the finished works of Christ on the cross, anyone can walk into salvation through Him (as the door). Glory to His name.
Jesus also points out that He is the door of the sheep. Meaning, He is the one who provides access to the redeemed of the Lord. Through Jesus, we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father (Eph 2:18). Through the Word, God’s people walk in the world and yet remain not of the world.
If you are not a follower of Christ, what does it mean for you that Jesus is the door? It means that you can freely access God and move from eternal damnation to eternal salvation through Jesus. Yes, you can! In the days of Noah, the ark was prepared and the door of the ark was opened to all. Noah preached the coming of a flood that will wipe out all men. The men of his time refused to enter the ark until Noah entered it and the door was shut.
Jesus is coming again and until then the door to salvation is open to all. Cease this moment to enter in, through Christ our Lord.
If you are a follower of Christ, know this - through Jesus, you have access to the Father. On that day you shall ask Me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name He will give it to you, Jesus said (John 16:23). You have a unique access to the Father through Jesus.
Precious One, Jesus is reminding you today - ‘I am the door’. Whether you are his follower or not, this statement is relevant to you. Choose to enter through Jesus, the true door. God bless you more.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
- Have you considered whether you have entered into salvation through Jesus?
- If you are a follower of Christ, how has the Word been your means of walking perfectly in this world and yet being not of this world?
