TOPIC: JESUS, THE REVELATION OF THE FATHER

THEME SCRIPTURE: “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father.” — John 14:9 KJV

 

PREPARATORY QUESTION:

1. What does Jesus reveal to you about the Father?

 

 

Terry Kubi grew up without his father. Years later, he began asking his mother questions about him. He wanted to know who his father was, and he knew his mother could provide the answers.

The disciples of Jesus also had questions about the Father. Jesus often spoke of “My Father,” saying, “In my Father’s house are many mansions”(John 14:2), and “No man cometh unto the Father, but by me”(John 14:6). Eventually, Philip asked, “Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us” (John 14:8).

Jesus responded, “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father” (John 14:9). He was not saying that He was the Father, but that He perfectly reveals and represents the Father.

Paul explains this in Colossians 1:15: “Who is the image of the invisible God.” Though God is invisible, Jesus makes Him known. John similarly declares that the Son has made the Father known (John 1:18).

Jesus is therefore the perfect revelation of the invisible God. If you want to know what the Father is like, look at Jesus. If you want to hear the Father’s heart, listen to Jesus. If you want to understand God’s character, study Jesus.

Beloved, God has not left us wondering about who He is. He has revealed Himself through His Son. To know Jesus is to encounter the revelation of the Father.

So, do you want to know the Father? Look to Jesus.

PRAYER

Precious Father, thank You for revealing Yourself through Jesus Christ. Help me to know Jesus more deeply and, through Him, know You more intimately. May His words and character continually reveal Your heart to me. Hallelujah!
