TOPIC: LET THE WORD DWELL RICHLY 

THEME SCRIPTURE: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom..." — Colossians 3:16

1. Does God's Word merely visit your life, or has it made its home in you?

 

 

Paul's instruction is both simple and profound: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly." To dwell means to settle, to remain, and to make a home. God never intended His Word to be an occasional visitor in our lives. He desires it to become a permanent resident, influencing every thought, decision, and attitude.

Many believers are content with brief encounters with Scripture. A verse read in passing or a sermon heard once a week may inspire for a moment, but it cannot sustain a life that constantly faces temptation, uncertainty, and spiritual opposition. A rich spiritual life requires a rich intake of God's Word.

When the Word dwells richly within us, it shapes our perspective before circumstances do. It governs our speech before emotions take over. It directs our decisions before the opinions of others influence us. The Word becomes the lens through which we see life and the standard by which we evaluate every choice. 

A heart saturated with Scripture is not easily shaken. It has learned to trust God's promises over feelings, His wisdom over human reasoning, and His truth over the shifting values of the world. This kind of stability is not achieved overnight. It is the result of consistently welcoming God's Word into every area of life.

The question is not whether you have access to the Bible, but whether the Bible has access to you. Every time you open the Scriptures with a humble and obedient heart, you invite God's truth to shape you from within.
