TOPIC: CONSULT BEFORE YOU CONFRONT
THEME SCRIPTURE: "David asked the Lord, 'Should I go out to fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?' The Lord replied, 'Yes, go ahead. I will certainly give you the victory.'" — 2 Samuel 5:19

PREPARATORY QUESTION
  1. Before making important decisions, whose voice shapes your direction most—your own, other people's, or God's?

David had the experience, the courage, and the military skill to face the Philistines. He had fought battles before and had capable men around him. Yet when a new challenge arose, he did not rely on past victories or personal expertise. He first sought the Lord.
That decision reveals true wisdom. Spiritual maturity is not measured by how much we know but by how consistently we acknowledge our dependence on God. Experience is valuable, but it is never a substitute for divine direction.
Many costly mistakes begin with the assumption, "I already know what to do." Confidence without dependence easily becomes self-reliance. God does not ask us to ignore our knowledge or reasoning; He calls us to submit them to His wisdom. He sees what we cannot, knows what lies ahead, and directs those who genuinely seek Him.
Today, God's guidance is available through prayer, His Word, the counsel of spiritually mature believers, and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Seeking His direction is not a sign of weakness—it is the posture of those who recognize that lasting success comes from walking in step with Him.
Key Takeaway
Victory is not secured by experience alone but by a heart that consistently seeks God's direction before taking action.
Whatever decision is before you today—a career move, a family matter, a ministry opportunity, or a personal struggle—do not rush ahead simply because you feel capable. Beloved, with the Spirit of God in you, you are well able to pause long enough to ask God and receive direction. Then move forward with confidence when He leads, trusting that His direction always accomplishes His purpose.
God bless you more.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD
  1. What important decision am I tempted to make without seeking God's guidance?
  2.  Have past successes made me more self-reliant than God-dependent?
  3. How can I intentionally cultivate the habit of consulting God before acting?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for being willing to guide me in every decision I face. Guard me from self-reliance and teach me to seek Your wisdom before I act. Help me to listen through Your Word, prayer, wise counsel, and the leading of Your Spirit. Give me the courage to obey Your direction, even when it challenges my own understanding. May every step I take reflect my trust in You, and may my life bear witness to the victory that comes through walking in Your will. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
