TOPIC: THE URGENCY OF ETERNITY
THEME SCRIPTURE : "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God." —2 Corinthians 5:20
PREPARATORY QUESTION
- If you truly believed that every person you meet will spend eternity somewhere, how would that change the way you treat them today?
One of the enemy's greatest victories is convincing believers that there is always more time.
More time to pray for that friend. More time to share the gospel with that neighbor. More time to have that spiritual conversation with a coworker. Yet Scripture never encourages such assumptions. Life is fragile, brief, and uncertain.
Paul writes, “We are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us” (2 Cor 5:20). An ambassador does not invent a message or postpone it indefinitely. He delivers it faithfully because he understands its importance.
Many Christians live as though eternity is a distant doctrine rather than an imminent reality. We spend enormous energy preparing for careers, retirement, vacations, and personal goals while giving little attention to the eternal destiny of the people around us. That imbalance reveals misplaced priorities.
Scripture warns, “Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth” (Proverbs 27:1). Tomorrow is a possibility, not a promise. Every day people step into eternity unexpectedly. Every day opportunities disappear forever.
Beloved, this is not a call to panic. It is a call to seriousness. Jesus Himself said, “We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day: night cometh, when no man can work” (John 9:4). The opportunity to serve, witness, encourage, and pray will not last forever.
Too many believers are waiting for ideal circumstances before obeying God. They want more confidence, more knowledge, more convenience, or more certainty. Meanwhile, people around them continue to grope in the dark for hope, forgiveness, and truth.
Key Takeaway
Those who really understand eternity stop treating obedience as something they can postpone.
Beloved, the gospel remains the answer. Christ remains the Savior. The mission remains unchanged.
So do not confuse delay with wisdom. If God has placed someone on your heart, pray for them today. Contact them today. Encourage them today. Speak to them today. Obedience is always easier to admire than to practice, but only obedience honors God.
Precious one, eternity is not approaching; it is already shaping every moment of our lives. So live like you believe in Christ's second coming.
Remain blessed

PRAYER
Father, forgive me for treating time casually and opportunities lightly. Teach me to number my days and live with eternal priorities. Deliver me from procrastination, complacency, and distraction. Help me recognize the urgency of the mission You have given me. Give me courage to obey promptly, wisdom to use my time well, and compassion for those who need Your salvation. May my life reflect the reality of eternity and the worthiness of Christ. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
