TOPIC: ROOTED IN WHAT CANNOT BE SHAKEN
THEME SCRIPTURE:“Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping Him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a consuming fire.” — Hebrews 12:28–29 (NLT)
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS
- What remains when everything around you begins to shake?
- What have you built your life upon?
Scripture reveals a Kingdom unlike every earthly kingdom. Nations rise and fall, systems change, possessions disappear, and circumstances can shift without warning. Yet, in the midst of all this uncertainty, God gives His people something that cannot be destroyed: an unshakable Kingdom.
The writer of Hebrews does not speak of this Kingdom as something believers must merely wait for. He says “we are receiving” it. This means that through Christ, we have already been brought into the reality of God’s reign. Our security is therefore not ultimately found in our finances, careers, relationships, achievements, or the stability of the world around us. Our security is found in the King and His eternal Kingdom.
This truth becomes especially powerful when life does not go according to plan. There may be seasons when your plans are shaken, your confidence is tested, or things you once considered certain suddenly become uncertain. Such moments can expose what has been holding your heart together.
Sometimes, God allows the things we have depended on to be shaken so that we can recognize the things that truly matter. What can be shaken does not deserve to become the foundation of our lives.
When everything around you is uncertain, make sure your heart is anchored in the One who never changes.
Because we belong to an unshakable Kingdom, our response should not be fear, despair, or hopelessness. Hebrews says, “Let us be thankful and please God by worshiping Him with holy fear and awe.” Gratitude becomes an expression of confidence in God. We worship not because everything around us is perfect, but because God remains faithful regardless of what is happening around us.
Being rooted in God's Kingdom also changes how we live. We no longer have to measure our worth by popularity, possessions, recognition, or worldly success. We are called to reflect the character of our King through our words, decisions, relationships, and conduct.
The Kingdom of God is characterized by righteousness, mercy, truth, humility, love, and justice. Therefore, being a citizen of that Kingdom means allowing these values to shape our everyday lives.
Do not build your identity on things that can disappear. Do not allow temporary circumstances to determine your eternal perspective. What God has established cannot be overturned by the shaking of this world.
When your plans are shaken, hold on to God.
When your confidence is shaken, remember His faithfulness.
When your resources are shaken, remember His provision.
When your surroundings are shaken, remember that your foundation remains secure.
The world may continue to change, but God's Kingdom remains. Christ remains King. His promises remain true. His purposes remain established.
So, stand firm. Live gratefully. Worship reverently. And let your life demonstrate that your hope is anchored in something greater than what this world can offer.

PRAYER
Sovereign Lord, thank You for bringing me into Your unshakable Kingdom. When the things around me change and circumstances become uncertain, help me to remain firmly rooted in You. Teach me not to build my confidence on temporary things, but to trust Your unfailing Word and promises. Remove every false foundation from my heart and help me live with gratitude, holy fear, humility, and unwavering faith. May my words, choices, and actions reflect the values of Your Kingdom and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
